Smile First of many mini goals!!!

Hmmm.....where should I start?

I've been working on losing weight most of my life. Since I was 8 years old I've been obsessed with my body and my body image. I had an eating disorder (anorexia) when I was 14 years old, because I wanted to fit in. My best friend saved me from that awful time in my life and I will be forever greatful to her.

I've been on every diet imaginable. I'm what they a "professional dieter" and I got to a point that I wanted to just be happy with myself and not be self contious anymore. That came 6 months ago at the end of May when I took to starting a vegetarian lifestyle. I cute out meat gradually at first and then did away with it completley. I wasn't much of a meat eater to begin with so doing away with it wasn't very hard.

The next thing that I did was I met with a nutritionist at my college campus and she helped me develop a healthy eating plan. What to eat, how much and she also taught me how to listen to my hunger cues (so to know when I'm really hungry). That made me realize that I had forgotten what it felt like to be hungry and that in itself helped me tromedously. Finally I took to working out more then i had before.

I started by working out once a day for 30 minutes 3-4 days a week. I now have worked my way up and I work out (depending upon how busy my day is) 2 times a day (most times) 4 days a week for 45 minutes each time. At this point as can be seen by my tracker i'm 2 pounds away from having lost 10% of my weight!!!

Everything's paying off very well and I am beginning to be happier with myself now more then I have been in such a long time. I can't wait to reach the end of my goal because then I will know that I have made it there on my own and I will appriciate myself because of it.

Congratulations, you're doing great! I have been a vegetarian since I was 15, and although I never judge people for eating meat or try to convert them (othh, alot of meat eaters give me a hard time), I always like hearing from new vegetarians. Even if this is not a lifetime change for you I wish you luck with the new diet and especially with the weight loss!

Thank you Paloma! It's been 6 months since I became a vegetarian and I've never felt better! I have more energy and I never try to convert others either, but I do get a hard time from meat eaters. In addition to going vegetarian I've always switched to eating all organic foods, which i also love (as does my husband....just organic not vegetarian). So, all in all it's working out great!!
