Default Do you ever get weeks where you're more hungry than usual?

I'm having such a week. It's been 4 weeks now since the last time I stepped on the scale to see a zero loss; this past sunday was the first time i saw a gain, of .5 pound. So I'm going to chalk it up to hormones. I don't have a normal period thanks to Mirena so i'm never quite sure when TOM is.

But oh. my. god. Starting with Sunday.....I'm starving. I'm insatiable. I've never truly been like this more than 1 day since starting WW.

I get 33 pts a day. Thus far, the most I've ever used is 7 weekly points. activity ranges anywhere from 4-8 pts a week depending on my fibromyalgia.

Sunday, I went over by 5 points. Monday, by 1 pt. Tonight I'll be going over bc I've consumed all my points and it's been an hour since dinner and I'm hungry. growling. (dinner was 1 drumstick, 1 thigh, 2 medium carrots, 1 whole cooked yellow onion, 1 small sweet potato, and then still hungry so i hate 1/2 cup of my hubs egg noodles with a few more pieces of onion - that's a lot of food y'all!!)

I've started eating better in the last few weeks (as compared to first few weeks where I ate too many snack foods and not enuf protein). Lean protein shakes for snacks. Cutting way back on the snack foods. 2-3 bottles of water a day. Tracking and measuring everything. Increasing my protein intake. Conscious of the fruit. Not having an excessive amount of 0 pt foods.

WHY am I so darned hungry and insatiable this week? Today I told my bff that I would make a deal with the devil for just one of these cookies I baked one time (huge decadent chocolate chip cookies that are 10 points EACH).

I'm so scared I'll see another gain this sunday, and one bigger than .5 pound. I was so proud of my 15-pound loss, and I'm so so scared of failing again. But OMG am I hungry and craving **** left and right.

I am thinking you need to try another route.
Another thought is that around my TOM I am ravenous 24/7. Could also be that.

What other route would that be?

I've been on WW for close to 2 months now, and this is the first time this has happened like this.

It's your first week, just keep moving, after a while you will be just fine, i believe for anything to be done successfully it takes a bit of getting used to. So don't preasure yourself just follow your plan (assuming you have one) and you will be just fine.

I still get this feeling occaisionally and I chalk it up to my fat cells fighting back, releasing hunger hormones because they don't want to go. Fanciful I realize, but also based a bit on real biology.

I'm stubborn enough that I don't want the fat cells to "win" so this image gets me past those times.

When you're starving, eat, then go and exercise it off.

Grab a bowl of cucumbers or make a salad.

Hang in there! I know I have weeks like this occassionally! I like caryesings advice, it made me laugh!

A couple quick things, are you getting enough fiber? Your dinner sounds delicious, but if you aren't getting enough fiber throughout the day you will be hungrier. It helps you feel full and stay satisfied longer.

Also, are you getting enough fat? I know, I know fat is "bad". But if you don't get at least some good fats in your diet you will constantly feel hungry. If you are eating low fat this and fat free that you might not be giving your body the fat it needs to say "I am full". Just a thought!

Keep your head up! A small gain on the scale is still a victory. Consider how you would have reacted to this hungry week before. I am assuming, if you are anything like me, you would have eaten the whole house and then some Give yourself credit for being aware of what is going on, not eating the whole house, and trying to stay OP even if it isn't easy!

Stay strong, this too shall pass

If you are that hungry, clearly your body needs more food. WW gave you those 35 weekly points for a reason. Use them! It's not a bad thing. Many people, like myself, find I do NOT lose if I don't use them. If your stomach is growling, bite the bullet and use a couple points so your poor tummy doesn't think it's starving!

Also, I get that way just before my TOM, too. I call it "PMS Wednesday" and everyone I work with knows how I am on those days! I feel like I eat everything that isn't nailed down! But, I've found that if I don't eat, I'm ravenous and crabby! Thankfully, my weight is not really effected by it for long. IF it goes up at all the next day, it's gone (and hopefully then some!) but my Saturday weigh-in. You gotta figure out what works for YOUR body. Play with those points and don't be afraid of them. If they were bad/detrimental, they would not be part of the program!

I had a day like this yesterday, and ate Many Bad Things. Today I got back on track.

I once read a great line in a woman's magazine (Glamour, I think): if you're hungry, eat an apple. If you're still hungry, eat another apple.

I'm trying to live that now.

Update, one week later:

So I made the committment this week to get back on track with my workday walks. It had been tooooo hot to do it a lot for a few weeks there.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I was just insatiable with the food. Sunday and Tuesday I went over by 5-6 pts. The rest of the week though I stayed under.

In the end, I used a little more Weekly Points than normal, but not huge. The scale this morning, weigh-in day, shows that I'm down to 268.5, a pound and a half loss from last Sunday. I'll take it I guess.

I started getting over the "I'm so hungry i'll die" feeling. For those who asked about fiber.....gods yes, I'm getting so much fiber I can't even poo properly :P

I would also say I'm likely getting enough fat. Perhaps not always that "good fat" like from the oils, but I haven't cut out butter from my diet when cooking, not entirely. Just cut back a lot. I have 1 tbspish of regular PB every day. I don't go fat-free on things.....I just don't like the taste and find that eating cruddy food is not a life worth living, ya know? I'll cut back, I'll get healthy, but I don't ever want to be eating food thinking "ugh why am i eating this, it's terrible".

For those who eat more of their Weekly Points than I do... (I've never used more than 10, max)...how do you do it? Do you just divide them up evenly across the days, or do you have a couple bigger splurge days? I'm taking screenshots of my weekly view every saturday night, and I go back and see what I did if I have a good week or bad week, and both bad weeks the same thing happened.....it was PMS time AND I had a take-out splurge a few days prior to PMS. So I can't seperate the two.
