Yesterdy I went to a childcare center where I do monthly programming (as part of their literacy and language arts programming). A five year old girl said, "Miss Beverly, do you have a new dress? It's pretty. Have you lost weight?" I just smiled and giggled - said yes - and the teachers were giggling too. I've been going there monthly for almost three years - so, I've known this little girl since she's a toddler or a two. Also, I did have a new dress on. (a size smaller!) She must have a family member losing weight!! Quite an unusual observation for a five year old. (I could write a book about funny things children say.....)

She obviously knew what she was talking about. She saw a difference,like what she saw and felt free to share it with you. Nice!

Pretty (& smaller) dresses ARE fun - also fun having someone notice.

Just shows you, persistence, perseverance and hard work DOES pay off.

Cute! I find the kids that notice are the ones that do have a parent or someone who's lost weight. (I teach middle school) But for a 5 year old to figure it out is really impressive! Congrats and good job!

That's great. I think she has a bright future ahead of her if she is that perceptive of others. Usually, youngsters are not so aware of those around them!
