Default Weight Comparison Help (Before and Present)

Hello everyone.

I just have a question that intrigued me.

My friend who was 140 in 2008, gained about 50 pounds around summer of 2009. (190 lbs.) So he decided to go on a diet an exercise and today he is 140 lbs.

But here's the interesting part, he seems much more bigger (not fat just noticably bigger) now at 140 than when he was 140 back in 2008.

Why is this? He's the same height.

And also, does he have to lost more weight in order to be the same physical features as he was when he was 140 in 2008.

It may be that he lost muscle mass in the process so even though he's the same weight his muscle/fat ratio is different. A lb. a fat takes up more space than a lb. a muscle. I bet if he did some weight training and toned up a bit it would make all the difference .
