For those of you who have lost weight, what was your weight loss exercise routine like? How many days per week did you exercise, what type of exercises did you do, and for how long did you do them?
Feel free to share as much information as necessary.
Mine currently varies. As of today, I'm canceling my gym membership - I haven't been making the time, I'd rather be outside, and I'd prefer the fees to go towards other stuff at present.
So my exercise is coming from lots of outdoor activity. Gardening (or rather, digging the garden, which consists of a lot of slamming the shovel into the yard, hopping up and down on it so it'll actually break through the earth, and lifting the dirt up and away), chasing after my dog and two year old, long hikes with the dog and bf, shorter walks with the two year old, and we're about to break out the bikes after storing them for the winter. The weather's getting super nice, so I'm happy to spend this much time outdoors.
For strength training, I'm going to try to incorporate some body-weight moves (push-ups, lunges, squats, planks).
I've had success with running, with walking, with weightlifting, spinning, swimming and other stuff at the gym. I just find if I move more, it pays off.
I've been doing 60 minutes of cardio at the gym 6 times per week and strength training using Chalean Extreme 3 days per week. Since I've started doing this, I have been losing 2.4 pounds per week.
I'm certainly not at the end of my weight loss battle, but I am working hard at it. I do 100 minutes of cardio a week (that generally means 3 workouts at the gym, either on the treadmill or the bike, and i walk my dog 4 days a week, but i make sure to run for as long as i can on those walks). I do 120 pushups, 120 squats, and 120 situps every week. If I haven't done it by the weekly weighin, I have to do them before I weigh.
I should probably do more exercise, but doing a weekly challenge for myself has been a good way to stick to it. I increase the minutes/number of exercises each month.
Veronica - I try to incorporate exercise into my day, every day. Last night we went for a long walk with the kiddo & dog, and then I dug out a new garden for 90 minutes (my back is sore today). Tonight we're finishing up more gardening stuff, and then watching a movie, during which I may or may not do some squats and lunges (the digging in the garden is more than enough for an upper body workout).
I don't have a set-in-stone daily routine anymore. I just try to be active, every day.
I aim for at least 6 hours/week of cardio that I get either my walking, exercise bike, swimming, or hiking. How much time I spend hiking on Sundays is based on how much time I have already logged.
I do a little weight work but I don't count that as my exercise time.
