Ugh I can't sleep for the life of me. I went to bed like a good girl by 11p (my school reading bored me to sleep, literally) and I was up at 3a, with an 11 pound cat sitting on my back, kneading me! Someone thinks she is a dog and likes to wake up her people to be fed at all hours!

So, I thought I'd get the thread started since I can't get back to sleep now (but will, trust me!). It looks to be a horribly rainy weekend here so while I think my homework will keep me busy,I want to get back to World Market - the wine I bought was simply DELISHIOSO so I want to get more before it runs out of stock, with my luck. My other chore is a favorite - go food shopping! I love it and it gets me out of the house.

Oh and I bought the movie Coraline and hope to watch that with DW and nap.

But, that is weekend planning. Today, I plan on working. But, if I can focus a little better I hope to get out of work early! Happy Friday :broc:

03-12-2010, 04:30 AM
Good Morning Jenn:sunny:

I hope we both manage to get back to sleep. Take care if I don't see you till later.

03-12-2010, 04:38 AM
Jenn, I'm so sorry about your cat! Our dog always has had to sleep in a different room than us. She snores, loudly, so she gets her own bedroom (AKA the living room :)). She's at my parents' now, though, having a blast with their pup. Hope you can get back to sleep!

Debbie, you need to move to Germany. Then you'll keep "regular people hours". LOL

I had an awesome workout this morning! I'm noticing more muscle definition and that makes me very excited. The scale hasn't moved in a couple days, but with the NSVs I've had I am content to wait until the scale catches up to the progress I know I'm making.

Avery was up at 4:30 this morning because she said she had to throw up. She never actually did, but I'm keeping the girls home from school today just in case she's starting with something. She was starving for breakfast and had two bowls of cereal and then a cup of milk, so I'm crossing my fingers that she's OK and it was just a freak dream or something. It wouldn't be a TDY without somebody throwing up all over the place, though. I swear it happens every time!

Kadyn and I are finishing up her homeschool lessons and then she's going to do her violin. I have laundry going and I'm hoping to be able to get on the Wii Fit before Connor gets home from school. We have nothing planned for this afternoon, so it will be nice to relax!

03-12-2010, 04:56 AM
Kara - snoring? I don't think I mentioned my DW, for the fact that she is 60 pounds lighter than me, snores like a mac truck AND hogs the bed. Grrrr

I hope the kids are a-ok!

Debbie- morning. Or something ;)

03-12-2010, 05:26 AM
Tom hogs the bed, too, but I give him a little leeway because he *is* a fair amount bigger than me. Luckily, he doesn't snore, though! Dodged a bullet there!!! :D

03-12-2010, 06:16 AM
5 posts before 5 AM?!

Jenn & Debbie - hope you two are sleeping now.
Jenn - We have cat wake ups when we try to sleep in. I blame the vet who put them on canned food and measured dry. Back in the day they just had as much dry food as they wanted so didn't need to wake us up. Now I have one of those vets who likes to point at the fat cat chart to show me where my kitties are :o

Speaking of vets - hope Twynn is having an awesome vacation :)

Kara - How is Avery doing? Hope it was just a dream.

Another weird day here. I have a 9 am meeting and an 11:30 visit. The visit is near home so I hadn't planned to go back to the office (too much driving) but I won't be back until mid-day next Thursday so I might need to wrap some things up. I'm not sure why there always seems to be so much to do before going away for 3 days, both at work and at home.

I'm going to spend some alone time with my coffee now ;) Hope your Friday is a smooth ride into the weekend!

03-12-2010, 06:26 AM
Avery is running around in a skirt and short sleeved shirt with a blanket around her shoulders like a cape. She and Kadyn are playing ballet class. (I don't know how the cape fits in there, but she's three...) I'm thinking she's fine. Thanks for asking!

Good luck with your meeting and visit today, Cyndi. I hope you can finish everything up before you leave the office so you don't have to go back. Have a great trip to your parents'!

03-12-2010, 07:09 AM
Good morning!

I'm glad Avery's feeling perky now, I'd like to be a fly on the wall in that ballet class. :) And I hope our resident night owls were able to get a little more sleep before starting their Friday for real.

Cyndi, I hope you're able to get all those details wrapped up.

A month or so ago I picked up a few cute short sleeved scoop neck tops in size medium at Marden's (a salvage store) for $2 each. They're really cute but a little bit tighter than my other mediums so I've had to wait to wear them. I tried them on last night and they're good to go now so I'm wearing my favorite - a yellow top with tiny pink dots. It's making me feel cheerful on this dreary, gray morning but I'm not sure if it's the colors or the fact that it fits that's got me grinning.

I'm so glad it's Friday! :D I've had a great week, but a really busy one. Last night I laid down on the bed 'for a minute' after I finished my wii workout and fell asleep. It will feel so good waking up tomorrow knowing that I don't have to go ANYWHERE if I don't want to. It's supposed to be a dreary day - just right for hanging around the house getting caught up on laundry and odds and ends and maybe watching a movie....

Enjoy your Friday friends!

03-12-2010, 07:10 AM
Shhhhhhh - some chicks are sleeping! I need coffee.

03-12-2010, 07:16 AM
:coffee: Good morning!

Jenne, I hope you managed some sleep before you have to get up for work! Jake is a loud snorer and a bed hog, too, and I've spent many a night clinging to the edge of the bed and poking him to scoot over. He just rolls over, gets comfy, and starts snoring again. :dizzy:

Deb, I hope you're still sleeping for now!

Kara, I'm glad Avery seems to be fine. There's a stomach virus going on around here, but so far we've all managed to dodge it, thank goodness! Congrats on your NSVs, and I had a chuckle over your slip on jeans one, yesterday. LOL!

Cyndi, enjoy your coffee. I have a big mug in front of me, but I'm sure you know that. :D

We're in for a N'Easter this weekend, but it's all rain. It will be interesting to see what happens in our basement during it all. I was planning to spend the weekend at Monica's, especially since Carley and her Irish dancing school are supposed to be in the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday. But now that it's supposed to rain all weekend, I wonder if the parade will be cancelled? Anyway, I decided I'd better just stay home.

03-12-2010, 07:29 AM
Not feeling so perky today. I have a cold or allergies or something. Oh well. No time for personals right now, just saying hi and wishing everyone a great Friday. I'm just looking forward to a nap when I come home from school.

03-12-2010, 07:36 AM
Oy! I have coffee and the dogs are outside exploring spring. We have one largish puddle out there but no big flood as we had last year. I'm crossing my fingers and boobs that it stays that way!

Jenne, Kara and Debie, with you three around, joined by Okie sometimes, we should start a nightly thread.

Cyndi, Cottage and Heidi, it's nice to see come "normal" folks. (Note the quotes!)

Maryjaneld, I hope you feel better soon and manage a nap today.

Did a big shop yesterday after my haircut and actually bought some clothes. I wish I could say they were a smaller size but can't. I managed to hit a great sale and got three long sleeved shirts, a couple of t-shirts, two crops and some earrings for well under $100. :carrot: I also have a 40% off coupon for next month. (I also managed a trip to the darned Chinese Buffet :nono: but am not changing my ticker this morning.)

It's an "at home" day today with odds and ends to do around here. I have the lamb cooked and ready for a lamb/mushroom/rice pilaf which will be supper tonight with a salad. I am starting to build up my stash of freezer meals for garden marathon days.

I hope your Friday is a good one - and if not, I hope it's soon over because it's going to be the WEEKEND! :cb:

03-12-2010, 07:37 AM
Heidi, yay on the tops! I'm sure you look fantastic!

Ruth, enjoy your coffee! Tom got me a daily calendar for Christmas and it's made by Joy of Cooking. Yesterday's page was about how to flavor your coffee. The only one I remember is adding a cinnamon stick to the grounds. There was something about anise stars and another about cloves and something about citrus peel, too. I'll have to look it up and post it for you!

Linda, I would hope the parade would be canceled for the rain. I would not want to march or watch a parade in the rain!

Lauren, hope you're feeling better soon!

03-12-2010, 07:38 AM
Hi all,
I hopped on the scale this morning and I am back down to my lowest weight since starting SB - 160.8 - so that at least is good news. My cold is still hanging on, but I feel I'm slowly outwitting it. We're also due for heavy rain, and I'm just hoping my flight is not delayed.

Heidi, don't you love when that happens?? I am close to being able to wear a pair of pants I bought last summer which are so cute but didn't fit (I didn't try them on when I bought them). Now, all my regular clothes are fitting properly, but I'm looking forward to when they are just a little too big so I can buy new ones! And, summer is coming...I'll be wearing a bathing suit in Florida and hoping it looks better than it did last year.

03-12-2010, 07:44 AM
Wow...all of you are up bright and early...or for a few dark and late LOL! I'm so glad it's Friday. We have a casual day today and for some reason that makes getting ready for work so easy! My scale is not moving like I would like but I am sticking to the plan and I have had some NSV's....I'm back into a pair of pants that were too small before and people at work are beginning to notice that I am losing. I am trying a new strategy this coming week with meal planning...I have printed out a few SB recipes and I'm having my boys (all of them even the really big one...) pick out what they would like for dinner. I am hoping this will help us all eat together. Lately we have eaten in shifts and the boys are not loving what I am making so I am giving them some input. It just costs too much to feed us all so differently!
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

03-12-2010, 08:40 AM
Tomorrow morning we leave for our ski trip. I have lots of stuff to do today, including all the packing (food, clothes, supervise DS). I did 5 loads of laundry for DS. Yes - 5! I think he has too many clothes.

My mom and I are getting back to our workout today for the first time since her husband's medical crisis. He is doing better at home, getting different therapy as an outpatient, and they have 24 hour help for a while.

I told DH I absolutely want to exercise before we hit the road tomorrow! My vacation goal is just not to eat anything not on the plan. I suspect I will eat more than usual on the boring car rides, but hope not too much. I decided I will write down what I eat in an attempt to stay OP and not go overboard.

Not sure when/if I will be able to check in but hopefully at least once a day:) I will miss you:(

03-12-2010, 08:52 AM
Mmckellen, I'm glad you're starting to feel better! Yay on the good news from the scale!

Lisa, I think your idea about sharing the recipes sounds fantastic! Maybe the boys will have some suggestions for substitutions or tweaks that could make them more palatable for your family.

Karen, good luck with the last of your vacation planning! Car rides are the hardest for me. I am a big eat-when-bored traveler! Sometimes I chew gum instead, so I don't want to put junk in my mouth. Tom likes to eat candy while he's driving and it is very hard to resist!

I just spent two hours looking for a hotel in Venice for our trip at the end of the month/beginning of April. It is HARD to find one that can accommodate all five of us. I think one of the kids might have to sleep in one of those water taxis. ;)

03-12-2010, 09:02 AM
Hey everyone! Feel better Lauren. I can fit into 22w jeans! I was happily suprised when I zipped it up and it stayed up!

03-12-2010, 10:15 AM
FO Woohoooo! Congrats
no real time for personals but new sizes Rock!
I was up from 3:00 this am till 4:30 tried to sleep in another room (DH snoring and breathing on me and my cat spin grooming with smelly cat breath on the othe side) then went back to bed at 4:45 until 6:15
already had coffee in my protein shake so I think it's green tea time
I made soda bread last night the pic is on FB I have to say it's too pretty!
Planning to go back to working out tomorrow AM before SCranton!

03-12-2010, 10:50 AM
Good Morning Ladies :)

Jenne, I hope you managed to get back to sleep last night... I noticed you haven't popped back in during daylight hours, so maybe you are still snoozing. :D

Do you have a hard time sleeping often? FWIW... I tend to wake up a couple of hours after falling asleep after having a couple of drinks... wine would do that to me... YMMV, but you might want to keep an eye on it and see if that's what's going on....

Karen, I'm glad to hear that your Mom is getting help with her DH... it sounds like things have really improved quite a bit in the past week of so... Have a great time on your trip!

I was wakened early this morning with a cat standing on my chest yowing at me... The good thing is that I needed to get up about 2 hours earlier than usual today because DH and I are volunteering at the food co-op stocking shelves. He woke me only about 30 minutes before my alarm went off, so that gave me just enough extra time to check in with you ladies.

Have a great day on the beach everyone!

Good Morning:sunny:

I did get some rest and woke up with a still sick and grumpy DH. I cancelled skiing yesterday to be home w/him but found that not fun at all. So I'm sticking to my plan today, off to the pool then on to skiing. It's a beautiful but chilly day-I'll take it. I guess I'll stop by the store and get a corned beef for the grumpster on the way...and keep repeating "I can still be nice..."

Hi New Gals! Jerie, dwdeb

Sophie, great news about SIL!

Kari, :crossed: on the job! Take a nap today!

Lauren, hope you feel better.

Karen, our road is open again, that will make your travels better!

Onward and Upward!

Good Morning ladies

Happy Friday! My first post in the daily thread woo-hoo :D I was surprised to see so many early bird posts!!

Congrats to all those with scale and NSVs and be safe to everyone going out of town this weekend!

03-12-2010, 12:17 PM
:welcome: SunnyBella. What a petty name!

Yes, we have a lot of early bird east coast folks and then there are the insomniacs!

FYI - sausage/egg/veggie breakfast cups.. NOT so good after having been frozen. they're a bit soggy. meh.

03-12-2010, 12:52 PM
Good morning everyone,

Love all of the nsv's everyone is talking about. Hope the early birds were able to go back to sleep.

Today is wfh but I am trying to get stuff done before leaving next week. Only have today and Monday to finish up some stuff.

At the eye doctors they gave me a new prescription it jumped by .5 at first I had a hard time adjusting to seeing my computer screen but I guess it must be right because I can see up close and far away clear now.

Have a great day everyone.

03-12-2010, 01:14 PM
Morning all. Thank you guys for the nice welcomes. So far, so good for me. Still having "nasty food" withdrawal. Headachy & blah last couple days.

Sorry to those of you with sleeping probs. There is nothing worse, as far as I'm concerned. I have a worse "snorer" problem - I snore & wake MYSELF up. LOL

Glad to hear all your NSVs. Keeps me motivated.

Everyone have a great day. At least the weather here is cooperating - middle 70's.

03-12-2010, 01:38 PM
Howdy chicks!
I overslept this morning. We got up at 7:15 and the kids leave at 7:30. I never even heard the alarm. I guess my body just decided we were going to catch up on some sleep. I told the kids I would drive them to school, but they have assessment tests this week and were worried about being late, so they got ready, ate breakfast and were out the door to catch the bus in 15 minutes. I never saw them move so fast!
Then of course it has been a very busy morning. I am buried in work these days, but I guess that's a good thing. I just hate feeling like I can never get caught up.

We missed my niece's birthday during all that snow in February, so I am making her a berry pie, It smells so good! I am drooling, but at least I have a good lunch to look forward to. I made some kale and white bean soup, and chocolate snack cake for dessert.

Dreary grayness for us too this weekend.

Kara, glad Avery is feeling okay. I am having the same problem planning our trip to the South of France. Things are not set up for a family of five! I am looking for apartments to rent rather than hotels. By the way, the kids are staying at Grandma's tonight and I plan to sleep!

03-12-2010, 02:11 PM
:welcome:, Jerie! It's nice to meet you!

Kari, I didn't like those breakfast cups frozen, either. Blech! They were the consistency of a sponge, and just as watery.

03-12-2010, 02:15 PM
Okie, YAY on the jeans! We've got NSVs all over the place lately!

Kierie, did you make your soda bread with whole wheat flour? I've never tried that.

1, hope your volunteering goes well today!

Kari, I have kept those breakfast quiches in the fridge for a week to a week and a half with no problems. Maybe that would be a better solution next time?

Debbie, I hope your husband is feeling better soon. Enjoy your skiing day today!

Sunny, so glad you popped into the daily!

Rose, glad the new glasses are working out!

Jerie, funny about your snoring waking yourself up! Stick with the program and that yuck feeling will be gone soon. You'll end up feeling so amazing that it will have been worth it!

Schmoo, I'm so glad to hear the kids get to spend the night at Grandma's! Enjoy your quiet evening and sleep in!!!

I scrapped the Venice plans and am looking into a road trip into Switzerland now. I think this is going to work out better, and Tom sounded really excited when I ran the idea by him. He loves driving.

03-12-2010, 02:50 PM
Kara it's totally white flour but if you look on my page on FB I'm a fan of the society to preserve soda bread and there is a whole wheat recipe
Switzerland would be fun!

03-12-2010, 06:24 PM
Hello again ladies,
So feeling crappy kinda led to binge and i feel awful. Ugh! Tomorrow's a new day? Right? Thanks for everyone's kind thoughts.

03-12-2010, 08:33 PM
Well we are mostly packed for our trip tomorrow. It is so much easier when you are driving so can just throw anything in and not worry about airline rules. I have healthy snacks ready to go. Tons to do in the morning still.

Also, DS1, who has a summer research position at college, got contacted for an interview for an interesting internship at a great company near home. (He applied a while back.) When it rains, it pours.

03-12-2010, 11:02 PM
Karen, if you don't get a chance to check in with us tomorrow morning, have a safe trip, and have fun!
