Default I survived fast food!

Well the other day I didnt have any other option but we ended up at wendys for lunch. I was so worried that I was gonna go up and just blurt out cheeseburger! But I was able to just get a side salad and eat that to hold me over till i could get something better. I was very proud off that and then today I went out to lunch with my coworkers which always ends up with fast food so I had stopped going out. We went to taco bell and all I got was their fresco grilled steak taco. Its only 160 c and I knew I had an apple waiting for me back at my desk. It may seem silly but I feel like that was a big accomplishment for me..fighting the burgers and burritos haha

Yep, I know what I can get where cause fast food simply is going to be an occasional fact of life. I love the Fresco menu at Taco Bell.

Good for you! It's best to skip fast food, of course, but there are just times when you can't whether socially or logistically.

Wow! Good job! It's so hard not to be tempted sometimes by the good ol' megaburgers and such! (even though they're not particularly good at all) You deserve to be proud of yourself

AWESOME job!

FYI, I read on Eat This, Not That the other day that Wendy's Chili isn't too bad. I just looked it up and a small chili is:

190 calories
6.0g fat
2.5g saturated fat
0.0g trans fat
40mg cholesterol
830mg sodium
19g carbs
5g fiber
6g sugar
14g protein
4% Vitamin A
4% Vitamin C
6% Calcium
10% Iron

If you get a plain baked potato and pour the chili over it the total is:

460 calories
7.0g fat
2.5g saturated fat
0.0g trans fat
40mg cholesterol
830mg sodium
80g carbs
11g fiber
9g sugar
21g protein
6% Vitamin A
60% Vitamin C
10% Calcium
30% Iron

I'm probably going to get that next time my bf wants Wendy's for dinner. I try to avoid fast food, but if I MUST I like to know I don't have to get something too greasy and unhealthy.

Woohoo!

I have to face fast food more often than I would like, it is good to have an option at each place. I am a big fan of the Wendy's chili. What I like to get there is the taco salad, no sour cream, no dressing, no chips and if I am really tightwad no cheese (although THAT you have to wait for because the premade part already has the cheese on). Always order it to go - then they wont put anything on it, you can pick out some of the cheese and toss the bags of extras. The chili over the huge bed of lettuce is very very filling.

McD's - southwest grilled chicken salad - no chips. There is a marinade/glaze on the chicken that if you stir around is adequate to moisten the rest of the salad so no dressing necessary.

Taco bell - the fresco menu is good. The crunchy tacos actually have fewer calories than the soft because of corn vs. flour and it satisfies deep fried cravings in me.

GREAT JOB! I unfortunately have to fight the urge every single day of my life! My fiance is constantly eating the junk food, dollar menu, rally's, etc. He is still sooooo skinny though! Ugh! I would love to tear into a cheeseburger but I KNOW its not worth it!

Great job! It's not easy to navigate the fast food scene, but with planning you can do it. Subway and Quizno's have sandwiches with between 350-500 calories each, which is usually what I go for. Don't be shy about asking for nutrition facts - they should be able to give them to you and that can help you to make an informed decision.

way to go on your success!

I work on a college campus and occassionaly find myself in the student center at lunch time, due to having meetings/errands in that area. I always get a small chili (no crackers) and then some steamed vegetables from the hot food bar. Then a small coffee at Starbucks.

The chili at Wendy's is really good for fast food.
