20-Somethings - Valentines Day Challenge!

Valentines Day is exatly 14 weeks and 4 days from today...and I was thinking about maybe challenging myself to lose a certain amount of weight by then. I know there is already a New Years Challenge going on, but it's easier for me to work on longer term goals...PLUS, one of the big reasons I'm trying to lose weight is that I want to make my bf feel like he's got the most amazing gf in the world...I want him to be proud to be with me and to be attracted to me physically, not just mentally...and if I lost a significant amount of weight by Valentines Day I might be comfortable wearing a sexy dress and some heels and going out on a real date instead of just wearing sweats and going to a movie...
SO, since there's about 14 weeks until V-Day, I'd like to try and make it to 179 or below by then...which would be a loss of 26 or more pounds AND would put me SO CLOSE to goal!!!

I would love to join you on this challenge. And I agree, long term goals are a little bit more doable for me. I don't have a boyfriend or anything, but I'd still love to be sexy on valentines day!
I'm gonna say 25 pounds for me by valentines...which would put me at 186.

I would love to join a VDay challenge. :) Looking sexier on Valentine's Day would be awesome. I want to wear a really cute dress. I'm going to set my goal for 15 pounds. That should put me around 145, which is very close to my lowest adult weight(142). Yay!

I'm in! I'm shooting for 1 lb/week at the moment, so let's say 15 lbs by Valentine's Day. That would put me at 147, 1 lb lower than my lowest adult weight!

Divine, this is an excellent idea! I'm in.
I've been lax with my calorie counting this past week (and I know I've binged at least twice), so maybe this will be exactly what is needed to motivate me. I'm at about 205 right now, and aiming for 195 by the New Year, so another ten pounds on top of that is ambitious but doable. 185, here I come!

I've been joining a million challenges this week lol. I'm in! I want to be 172lb or lower by V-Day for me and my boyfriend's 6 month anniversary! That will be 50lbs down from my starting weight!!!

12.23.09 - WELL, my boyfriend dumped me because I "wasn't worth the effort" and I was "last on his list of priorities" SOOOO that's a bust. But I still want to be hot on V-day! I'm actually close to 169 now, so maybe I'll make my goal before V-day!

I am in! I have had a crazy past few months and have dealt with that by going back to my old habits. But I dont want to undo all of my hard work - hopefully this will keep me on track!
I am going to say 15 pounds by valentines, which will put me at 152 - which I havent been since probably grade 7.

I'm in!! But I'm not setting too high a goal, I want to be below 220s, so if I lose at a rate of 1.5 lbs per week that's about 20 lbs from where I am now I'd be at 213 come valentines. Here goes, good luck all :)

I would love to join! I'm working on the last 10-15 lbs or so, so weight loss is going to be slow for me. However, I would really like to be 120-115ish by then (goal). I kinda have an strange new obsession with lingerie (I never used to when I was bigger, but now, I can't get over what I look like, so I wanna see myself in all sorts of new, sexy stuff). So, I could definitely see a new outfit for V-day.
By the way, I know what it feels like to not feel pretty/thin enough for your significant other (I always weighed WAY more than my husband- always). However, I am sure that your boyfriend thinks you are stunning, regardless of your weight. I mean, look at your avatar... you are a BEAUTIFUL woman! seriously.

wow, thanks for joining guys! Hopefully this thread will help hold us accountable, and we'll all make it to our goals =D
SO, I weighed in this morning at 207...which I was expecting because I've been in the hospital with my mom who had surgery...and the food there was absolutely terrible. You'd think that in a hospital, they'd have food that was good for you...lol.
ANYWAYS. I don't think I'm really going to count it...I'm not changing my slider or anything, and when people ask I'm gonna say 205. I think if I stay OP and drink lots of water...those 2 lbs will probably come back off pretty quickly.
so, as of right now it's 28 lbs to my v-day goal...but even if I just lost 17 I'd be happy...lol....maybe 18, just to get out of the 190s...haha.

Today's weigh in was 173.5 lbs meaning 4lbs down from last monday's WI. (Page 1 official weight tracking)
:D Off to start another week making today the beginning of week 6 since I've started officially losing weight.
So in 5 weeks I've lost 16 lbs :D avging 3 lbs per week

Oooh I wanna join this one! I joined the Va-Va-Vroom Valentines Challenge in another forum because it's the only Valentine's thread I saw and that's when I expect to reach goal, but I know you peeps WAY better so I'd rather do the challenge in the 20-something's instead. So... I want to lose my last 14 by Valentine's Day... but sometimes I barely lose 2 pounds a month now (it got SUPER slow near the end) so I'm not sure if I'll make it or not, but I'll do my best! So count me in!!!

Hi everyone, I'd love to join this challenge! I'd like to lose 25 pounds by Valentines Day. That would put me at 150, which would be only 5 lbs from my goal weight! The plan right now is to be down to 170 by Thanksgiving, 162 by New Years, 150 by Valentines Day, and 145(goal) by Mardi Gras! My official weigh in days are usually on Mondays, but i'm not expecting a big loss this week due to the start of TOM. My weight for this past week is 175, and I will post an updated weight on Monday or Tuesday!

Hey, I'm gonna join in this challenge here. I've been averaging between 1.5-3.0 pounds a week so I am going to set my goal to be somewhere between 170-175 for Valentines day, which would be between 1.5-2.0/week loss. ;) If I do more I'll be all the happier I'm sure, and this way I won't set myself up for failure. :)

lulu- I don't think there is really an official weigh day for this challenge. I figure everyone already has days they are used to weighing on, so this way it doesn't screw up everyone's weigh-in schedules. =D
As of this morning I'm 203.9....which isn't a huge difference from the last time I weighed, but it's a smaller number so I'm happy with it (especially because my bf and i made cookies and I ate like 6 of them in like 2 hours...haha)

I also haven't been feeling good so I haven't been working out, but I'm hoping to at least be able to do some stuff on Wii Fit tomorrow and maybe go walk 2-3 miles. I like this challenge. I just had a baby (Oct. 28th!) and am looking to lose the baby weight and more. I weighed 207 when I found out I was pregnant, I went up to 257 during my pregnancy, and now I'm down to 224. I have lost quite a bit of weight right away with the birth and the reduction of the swelling. Now I'm looking to lose the last 20 lbs by Valentines Day, which is around when I found out I was pregnant last year! =)

I'd like to join as well. :) I love the idea for a V-day Challenge and I really like the idea of a thread to stay accountable in for the next (almost) 3 months. I'm doing a personal New Year's Eve Challenge as well, which is in my signature.
There are 12 weeks until V-Day and I am aiming to lose 22 lbs in that amount of time. That would put my weight at 139 lbs (1/20/10--I have changed my goal to a little less ambitious 144 lbs., which is a loss of 17 lbs. However, I will welcome anything less than 144!). I have always been "overweight" for every V-day in my adult life. Gonna change that this year. Don't have (or want) a bf at the moment, but I'd like to look good on Valentine's Day for the first time in what feels like forever.

Hey everyone. Sorry I can't get on here more, I have an outrageous amount of schoolwork to do for the next 3 weeks since it's the end of the semester. I did really good with eating last week, but not so good with exercise. I lost 2.8 lbs last week, bringing me down to 172.2. This is really awesome for me considering I hardly ever even lose 2 lbs a week. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up. Hope everyone has a great week!

So, I started this challenge such a long time ago at 205....and I'm now only down to 201.3...
It's really frustrating to look back at something like this and see how much I really am holding myself back with all these bad habits I've developed....I need to be journaling my food, I need to stop eating fast food...I need to be working out...
There are 10 weeks now until valentines day...which means I would like to change my goal to a 15 lb. loss, or 186 lbs....I think that's much more attainable for me at this point because I had gotten so off track and managed to lose not even 4 lbs in a month...
I'd rather have an attainable goal to work towards then one I doubt I'd ever be able to reach.

I haven't eaten particularly WELL in months, so... keeping my calories below 1,500 seems to have shocked my body a little. I lost some lovely water weight..

I'm 154 now! Down 1 pound after 2 weeks... after the bad eating I had over the two weeks, I'm surprised I didn't GAIN a pound, so no complaints there. :)

I'm changing my Valentine's Day goal from 145 to 149.. I'm still 154 now, and with the holidays trying to lose is VERY hard but I think I can maintain and lose a LITTLE, but I go back to school on the 11th and that's only a month before Valentine's Day.. even if I'm down to 152 that's still 8 pounds to lose in a month. At my weight that isn't doable (4 pounds a month if I'm lucky!) so I'd have to be unhealthy to achieve it. I think a better goal for the challenge that will still keep me on track but not be unattainable is to break into the 140's and reach 149 by Valentine's Day. That's only 5 more pounds! I think I can do it!!!!!!!!!!
Also, because of alignment issues with two trackers, I'm temporarily making my entire sig an image with everything (and it still links the URL back to 3FC) so it all aligns up correctly. Does it look okay? It's kind of fuzzy but still readable, I think. I'll go back to text and one tracker after V-Day though.

I'm a bit late in joining, because I was doing the new years challenge, but now it's finished I want to do a new one! So motivating and fun! I think 6-10 week challenges are just about right for me as well.
In case you were wondering I'm single at the moment and working towards improving my lifestyle and self in general before I get involved with someone seriously again. Still I like Valentine's because I'm originally from Scandinavia where it's considered a day to celebrate friendship, and I think what I need to do this year is focus more on friends than men ;)

I'm withdrawing from this challenge. I had a crazy revelation today and realized that I am truly ready for maintenance. I look perfect at this weight and I'm healthy and I am now ready to invest my energies into maintaining that weight, eating healthy, and exercising right. I am going to get more active in the maintainer's forum. But more importantly, I am also going to keep posting in the 20-somethings, and rooting you all on!!!!! I'll be posting my goal story in the next few days. Thank you all for always being there and rooting me on. Maybe I will eventually lose 7 more pounds and end up at my original goal of 145, or maybe I won't. The difference is that it's no longer a goal of mine. I'm healthy and I'm happy, and that's what matters most. :) I never imagined I would get this far. I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing what I had previously only dreamed of.
(Sorry for any of you that had to read this twice, as I posted it in all threads I was active in involving current weight loss.)

Hello all,
I'd like to jump on even though I know I'm super late - is that cool with everybody? I need the accountability of a challenge with the holidays being done. I weighed in at 207 this morning am considering my 'official' weight 205 since I was there super recently and I know this is water weight from sodium and new year's eating. I want to be at 199 by Valentine's Day - I've been trying at onderland seriously FOREVER and it's so close. I just want to kick it in to high gear and finally make it happen!

I gained 10lbs during the holidays... I have to reset my V-day goal to my pre-holiday weight.. on 137lbs (where I was for only 2 weeks)... -10lbs in 6weeks seems like a challenge, but I must do it. I'm feeling the motivation.

As of today I have my ticker set at 178. I'd like to shoot for 166 for Valentine's Day! That's just about 6 weeks, so like 2lbs a week.
166 will put me at 1lb less than my all time adult low AND 5lbs away from my ultimate goal. Ok, here goes!!!

There are I believe 40 days between now and Valentine's day. If I can lose 1 pound every 5 days I can lose 8 pounds by then. Is that plausible?

kitty- I think 1lb every 8 days sounds plausible. I aim high all the time, so I'm working at 2lbs a week! If I don't challenge myself enough, I don't strive to be better. ;)

Lulu- I only believe the scale at the gym because my home one is not very accurate; however, if you are always weighing yourself on the same scale and the number is going down you can probably believe it- although if choosing not to believe it means you work harder then by all means ignore it lol

I find that if I don't weigh in every day, I get off track. Like I don't see the scale so my body is like GAIN WEIGHT NOW. But it may be just mental.

stella- I'm an everyday weigher also! I have to keep track just like you. I tend to only "report" my weight once a week in these challenges. Since a specific day wasn't set for this one, I just figured I'll use the same day as Valentines. :D

I weigh everyday too, but I only count the weight that I see at WW on fridays or saturdays. Earlier in the week, I thought I had gained, but it was just water retention from TOM, so it's gone now!! Hopefully it will stay for the weigh in tomorrow!!

Just wanted to share my good news that on top of getting back to where I was before the holidays, I also dropped a pound this week. At 204, which means I am down 32 pounds total. Less than five pounds to go to make my V day goal! Headed to the gym now...have a great weekend! Keep up the great work!

No weight loss to report yet, I have actually gained 3lbs in one week just eating normal healthy food and working out with my trainer 5 days last week. I guess I just haven't found out what works for me yet. Yesterday ended my TOM, so maybe the bloating isn't gone yet.
Oh well, I am going to keep trying, Cardio and a training session is scheduled for tonight. I will meet my goal of 167lbs by Valentine's Day!!! Wish me luck

Hi everyone :) Not been weighing in for this challenge but I'll try weigh in by the weekend. Not that I'm expecting miracles as I've averaged at 1740 calories per day for the last week. I've just temporarily moved into a house that only has hard flooring in the bathroom, and I've avoided weighing there because the floor is always wet in the morning (plus it really really stinks in there). I'm going to look into buying a few tiles or a piece of plywood so I can start weighing in my room and am looking forward to moving to a nicer house by Valentine's too :)

Hello everyone! I'm impressed this has been going since November! I'm going to hop on now with a couple weeks to go since I'm in the beginning phase of my diet (started 1 week ago today) so in theory I'll be dropping weight a little faster these next couple weeks than I will be after Vday.

That's about 3 pounds a week at the beginning of my diet and I'll be starting a twice-a-week yoga class next week, which will really kick up my exercise. If I have to modify to 2 pounds a week that would be good too, but I'd rather aim high then adjust. :)
I'm in a long-distance relationship and Valentine's weekend will be the first time I'll have seen my boyfriend since early January. :val2:

Hi ladies! I've joined the V Day Challenge in another forum but I'd like to join here as well for the extra accountability. Mondays are my "official" WI days, but I weigh myself pretty much every morning and today I was 167.1. I'd like to get down to the 150's (159.5, which also happens to be my halfway point and Mini Goal #3 for me!) by Valentine's Day. My best friend and I are going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras (Feb 13 to Feb 17) and will be seeing some people we haven't seen in a couple years and I would love to be in the 150's. It's about 3 weeks from now so I will have to be perfectly OP but I know I can do it!

I'm definitely not going to make my valentines day goal...I was aiming for 186, but I keep gaining and losing and gaining and losing and right now I'm at like 194...and I know I can't lose that much before v-day.
I'm okay with that though...I've achieved another one of my goals. I'm a lot more comfortable with who I am now...and I'm not so ashamed to be around my boyfriend, and I don't pull away when he tries to hold me anymore!!
Anyways, I wish you ladies good luck. I hope all reach your goals in time =D

Hey all! Thought I would check in as Valentine's Day is coming up very quickly (2 1/2 weeks!) and I have not been very chatty on this thread, although I have been updating my weight weekly on page 4.
I have lost 12 lbs so far and I have 5 more lbs to go. Not sure if I'll be able to lose 5lbs in 2 1/2 weeks, but I'll certainly try my best! If I come within 1-2 lbs of my goal I will be very happy. I actually revised my goal a couple weeks ago to 144 from 139 as there is no way that is feasible for 2/14. I will get to 139 in March hopefully but not February!
Hope everybody else is doing well! This is the home stretch, let's make these next 2 1/2 weeks count!

I've not been doing too well on this challenge and weightloss due to my living situation not being anywhere near ideal at the moment (but not for much longer). Been getting down because my internet connection is so bad that I have trouble tracking with spark and it's even tough to weigh-in because of flooring. Then having seen a photo of myself yesterday I thought well I just HAVE TO try harder, no excuses. :kickbutt:
Sooo... I got up extremely early to weigh myself before the bathroom turns into waterworld. I've also started to write a food journal with an actual pen so I can count calories old school style with the help of a calculator and book, so "bad me" can't even blame bad internet access for not tracking properly and not being OP. :D
Today I'm 183.2, miles behind my target, but I'll keep on trying and see how far I'll get.:)

I have 4.6 lbs to go! My weight loss has gotten really slow the past week so I am going to be a little more mindful of my eating and cut out the dark chocolate covered ginger which I've been snacking on entirely too much. I really really really want to see a number on the scale as close to 144 on V-Day as I can get down to. Besides, an orange or an apple can be just as satisfying and leaves me feeling better afterwards. :)
I also need to ramp up my exercise. I already do cardio every day for 45 min to an hour but I am thinking I need to increase the intensity as well as start a strength training program. Hmmm...I should probably visit the exercise forum on the board for some ideas.

So, my official WI this morning is 163.3 (.9 loss). I was hoping for 162-something, but since my weekend consisted of Mc Donalds, pizza, homemade Indian Tacos, and chocolate covered stawberries, well I'm just glad to not have a gain.
I don't know what my problem was but I am back on track! I really didn't eat all that much this weekend, I just ate really bad so I'm hoping that maybe I am just retaining water from all the sodium I'm sure I consumed, and that just maybe I will have a woosh in the next couple of days. We shall see! :)

I know I'm sorry! I just needed to confess my food sins, lol. An Indian taco is basically fried bread with chili, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and whatever else on top. They have them at fairs here but I could not resist these because they were homemade and delish. I didn't eat that much, not even a whole one but it's not anywhere near the plan for my diet!

Just wanted to pop in and see how everyone is doing?
Unofficial WI this morning says 162.2 and since that's better than my "official" WI, I am going with it. So I have about 2.5 to lose by Monday to make my goal of 159.9. Probably not going to happen but hopefully I'll get there soon after.
I am actually going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this weekend so next week will be focusing on not gaining anything. :)

Stargzr, WOW! You've done fantastic!!! :yay:
I'm currently stuck at my weight, but am hoping for a weekend woosh as I've been very very good this week, lots of walking and I've averaged at 1370 calories per day. To reach goal by Valentine's is not going to happen but I'm hoping to lose as much as I can to get some motivation to keep on trucking. So plan is to cut the sodium and drink more water, in addition to staying OP and see what happens :)

Thanks for bumping this thread, I try to post in here a couple times a week, but I couldn't find it. boo! I'm up a little today from too much sodium last night, but I've convinced myself it'll go back down.
