Default *NEW* Counting Calories and Working Towards Realistic Goals

I am counting calories using fitday.com and I am working hard to lose about 20 pounds by October 19, 2009.

I don't know how much I weigh because I refuse to get on the scales. I believe I weigh about 175 and I want to get down to about 155.

I'm using fitday because it tells me how much I burn just by living / breathing and then what deficit in calories I need to lose 20 pounds by October 19.

I eat about 1400 calories a day. I'm okay with that.

I'm lactose intolerant so I have to be creative with food.

I am committed to doing this. That's why I'm here posting and introducing myself.

JUDY!!

If you don't want to get on the scale why not a goal to be a certain size? I'm just wondering...how will you know when you've lost 20 pounds?

One thing I hate about Fitday is the calories it claims I burn just by living seem really high (I think I have myself set at comotose and that seems about right ). But your 1400 calories is probably a good place to start. So - YAY you!!

fat2slim, measure yourself or do something...I would suggest getting on the scale and having a trusted friend record the number if you can't muster the strength to look! You will be glad you did. Don't forget to take your start pics. I can't wait to see your after pics in October.

Default Thanks for your Welcoming Comments

I have clothes that no longer fit me the way they did when I was 155 pounds. My clothes are going to be my scale, so to speak.

When my clothes start fitting better and I no longer have to hold my breath to do them up and no longer have muffin top, then and only then will I get on the scale.

I have only weighed myself 3 times in the past 3 years. In July 2006 I weighed 155.8 pounds. Maybe by July 2009 I will be ready to jump back on those scales.

Until then, I will watch my intake, count those calories, and hope for some change.
