I wanted a list of workouts that are fun and quick, I get a little attention deficit if the workout runs too long. Classics are okay, but what I am really interested in are things that have come out in the past few years.
My favorites right now, both from the Turbo Jame selection:
Turbo Jam 20 minute work: Sometimes I feel like the combinations are too easy, but then I just put more energy into it.
Ab Jam [20 minutes]: This workout kills my abs, kills them dead. I love Chalene's upbeat attitude and she explains the moves in such a way that I get and don't feel ridiculous for not knowing. You know, there are just some fitness instructors that are kinda condescending or speak as if they are explaining something to someone who speaks a foreign language. Rather than translating it, they just speak slower... and louder. Chalene totally speaks my language.
I've got Tony Horton's 10- Minute Trainer and like it. It's five different 10-minute workouts - cardio, yoga, abs, total body, lower body - that you can do one at a time or stack as you please. And it came with some cool stuff: a meal plan, a resistance band, a tracker, and a set of flip cards for on-the-go workouts.
Has anyone seen the Bravo reality series Workout? Well, Jack Warner has a video called Workout: One-on-One with Jack Warner. It's got three 20 minute sessions: upper body, lower body, and core. I would like to check it out.
I ordered Stephanie Huckabee's videos from QVC. There are five and they are all 20 min. I haven't received them yet but they have good customer reviews on QVC.
I've only been doing it for a week now, but I am LOVING Jillian Michaels's 30 Day Shred. It is a 20 minute high intensity workout that works everything legs, arms, abs... it gives me the burn of a 2 hour long jog/cruches/weight workout in less the time, and actually feels more effective. I don't know if the results will live up to the name, but I am really enjoying the workout!
I also love to hate Jillian as a trainer... she does give me some of the motivation that I've been lacking! :-)
I'll second the love for the 30 day shred. It's twenty odd minutes of going all out and I feel like I've done more for myself than I was doing in an hour at the gym, and I really enjoy Jillian's no-nonsense attitude. She's encouraging but frank about what you need to do to get to where you want to be... and she doesn't yell and scream like on the Biggest Loser.
I like 10 minute trainer - I have not exercised much beyond some short walks in a long time and it kicks my butt. They are short and fun and has different difficulty levels.
A lot of Denise Austin's DVDs have 20 minute segments (or even shorter). I like her Personal Training System, Shrink Your Female Fat Zones and Get Fit Daily Dozen DVDs.
