Default Building Endurance

I just bought a used bike at Wal-Mart for $45. Good deal, except I rode it less than a mile and I just about had an asthma attack.

I am so out of shape and I don't know what to do. How can I build up my endurance when I've only been working out like once a week?

I just got a new job and I'm starting next week, I think it will help a TON because I won't be working crazy hours.

But one thing I do know, I DO NOT want this bike gathering dust.

I would start slow and steady. Make yourself stick to a routine. When I first started on my ellipticle I worked out every Mon, Wed and Fri for 30 min. No exceptions! I started at a slow pace and slowly worked up my speed. A good pace is if you are breathing hard, but can still talk. Once I worked up my speed I then started adding days. Now I am trying to do 5 days a week. It took me two and a half months to get to this point, but everyone's different!
