I need some input and advice. I know y'all know more than I do and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I have been stuck around 275 give or take 5 pounds since November 1st. I have been eating healthy since June 24, 2008 and working out since July 24th.
I lost 19 pounds from June to July, but only 14 pounds in the last 6 months. I have tried playing with my calories. 1500 was too low for me, and I eat around 2000 cals right now. I do calorie cycle. I work out almost every day. It will be anything from the 30DS, running for 30 min, biking 10 to 20 miles or strength training of my own.
When I first started working out I lost a lot of inches. I went from a tight 22 to a tight 16th. I haven't been losing as many inches, hardly any and my weight is staying the same.
Mid November I saw a doctor and he did a lot of blood tests. He said my thyroid, blood sugar, cholesterol and everything was perfect. He said that I'm doing fine and to keep it up. He also told me that I shouldn't eat less that 1800 cals and no more than 2300 per day.
So what am I doing wrong? Why am I not losing? I eat lots of veggies and baby spinach, lots of protein, hardly any sugar, some dairy, and good carbs.
If you have any advice or input, please let me know!
I dont know but when I was eating super healthy from all food groups and working out like crazy and staying within my calories I wasn't hardly losing at all. Now I am doing the SBD and I realize how many more carbs I was REALLY eating associated with everything else. There is no way that I could eat 1800 calories and lose weight....but now I pay attention to how many calories but MORE attention to when I am full and when I am truly hungry. All I can say is try different things to get yourself jumpstarted again.
But GIRL you are an inspiration to me so I dont know why I would be giving YOU advice! luv ya
It's not unlikely that you have lost some fat in that time, even if you're not seeing it in inches or pounds very much.
I wish there was an easy answer to the dreaded plateau. Most people just suggest switching things up as much as possible. Diet- when you eat, what you eat, how much you eat.
And of course changing up exercise.
Carter- Hey girl, you're so sweet! I think you're an inspiration and gladly welcome your advice! I tried the south beach for 8 days. I wasn't losing any on it, granted I stopped but I don't think that's for me. I wish my body came with a manual! lol
Kelly- thanks! I have been switching up as much as I know to do. I eat about 6 to 7 times a day small snack mostly, but a good breakfast and lunch. I range on my exercise, but I got to be missing something? Oh, I drink 3 to 4 liters a day of water too. I'm not sure what my fat percentage is, but I've lost over 48 inches from the places I have measured.
what is the calorie range that you cycle.. is it 1800 - 2300 ? do you keep track in detail how many cals you are eating? what does a typical week of cycling look like for you?
Are you getting enough sleep also? that can effect weight loss. Maybe its all these men hovering around you!! j/k
when the doc said 1800-2300..did he mean to maintain or to lose weight?
First, Kudos to you for sticking through this overly long plateau. I would have probably given up by now. Seriously. You are an inspiration to all.
Second, I have no idea why you are not losing. Your changes have made you the epitome of what healthy weight loss should look like. I don't get it. I am sorry.
Thirdly, the scale isn't moving. I know that it COMPLETELY SUCKS, You feel like you are getting no reward for your hard work. The tape measure has stopped moving. Again, it sucks. Can you think of more internal rewards that you can't see? Your bloodwork was perfect. There is something to be said for that! You can run/bike/ live like you never have before. How about your mental health? You are in a good state of mind (most of the time ).
Just take time to think about all that you have gained even tho you haven;t lost in a while. Does that make sense? We love you!
Heather- thanks girl! I appreciate that. I guess I dont want to be in self deception though if I'm doing something wrong or if I could do something different. I for sure like how I feel. and the fact that I can do 20 miles on a bike, is freaking amazing!
Thighs- I did in November, and he said everything is perfect and I'll start losing again.
Bcarter- I get anywhere from 7 to 8 hours of sleep. so I guess Im getting enough.
Ny- here's is this week for example.
Sat 2200
Sun 2000
Mon 1562
Tues 2300
Wed 1600
Thur 2032
So I did drop a little below 1800 two days.
Carter- This is for me to lose weight. I do weight 272 and 5'11 plus a lot of exercise. My resting calories is around 2200 w/o doing anything.
Try going to 1800 calories a day ~ But I think you are getting/gaining muscle! You will proboly step on the scales one day and it will drop Drastically all of a sudden.GOOD LUCK.
IT sounds like you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing to be healthy and the weight isn't coming off like it should. But only YOU own your body and can do things to change it....it will come off somehow
