Default will u check this recipe for me ? i think it's safe but want to be sure...

ok i did a ton of searching on here to find the answer but couldnt find anything so would you let me know if this Chili recipe is ok for p1 ?

Ground pork or turkey
2 cans chili beans ( Mrs Grimes)
2 cans red kidney beans ( Mrs Grimes )
1 can tomato juice
chili powder
red pepper powder
pepper
minced onion
garlic powder

is this ok for p1 ?

I normally use 3 kidney & 1 chili bean but i that was what i had @ the time....
just don't want to eat it if it's not ok.

The basic recipe is fine for P1.
I'm not familiar with the Mrs Grimes brand though, so you would need to check the ingredients list on each can. Either could contain added sugar, and pay especial notice to the list on the chili beans can.

Ditto what Artemis said. Some canned beans contain added sugar and cornstarch, so check the label and be sure to drain and rinse the beans thoroughly before using them.

Buying dried beans instead of cans eliminates a lot of concerns. Right now I have four different kinds of beans - black, kidney, pinto and navy - cooked and frozen ready for use. Sure you have to plan ahead but I soak them overnight, drain in the morning and put them in the crockpot with water an inch over their heads and cook them for the day. So very, very handy!
