I like Seattle's Best Coffee. I make my coffee strong and then dilute with a lot of milk. I used to have a tsp of sugar and now I use 1/4 tsp of splenda. I like the flavored creamers, but rarely use them.

I really wish I could enjoy black coffee though. Since I have to have so much milk it makes it hard to have coffee in restaurants or on a plane because I would have to add a ton of creamer to make it taste right.

This is my kind of thread. :coffee:
My husband says i am not a a real coffee lover because i like flavored coffee and i add a bunch of stuff to it, whereas he drinks it strong and black.
But, everyone likes different things, so whatever.
I am hooked on creme brulee flavored coffee, i always buy the folgers brand because that is the only one i can find in the stores.
I add the new splenda with fiber, i think it tastes different that other splenda.
And i add fat free half n half.

It is so creamy and yummy and delicious.
I turn coffee into a treat.
Sometimes i drink it all day.
Sometimes i make a pot in the evening.
Sometimes i make a pot to use to keep me from eating.

15 calories a cup, plus a gram of fiber.

We always use Maxwell House in our regular coffee maker, and use both Lavassa and Medajlio d' Oro in our expresso maker.

I take my coffee with skim or unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a packet of Splenda. I also like to sprinkle cinnamon over the grounds before I brew it, and sometimes have a splash of flavored SF DaVinci syrup in it instead of the Splenda.

I am a coffee snob - it has to be organic (I can actually tell and get headaches from non organic coffee), free trade and very dark. I take it black and will pass before drinking flavored coffee :) I will, however, occasionally drink a fat free latte with sf syrup as a treat. Of course the espresso has to be organic...

I got a keurig single-cup coffee maker for the holdays and i am OBSESSED. the K-cups come in a ton of different brands and varieties... I'm still working through a big variety pack, and so far my faves are Tully's Kona Blend and Newman's Own organic. The cost works out to about .30-.50 a cup... not cost-effective if you are used to brewing at home, but it's saving me a TON of money not having to pick up coffee on my way to work! you can also use it for tea and hot chocolate... not sure if they make a SF hot chocolate, but I am on the search...

I got samples of Truvia in the mail this week. I drink Splenda in my tea (not a coffee drinker) every day. Truvia tastes good -- no after taste to me. It's not quite as sweet as Splenda.

Is Truvia the same thing as Stevia? I know Stevia was just approved by the FDA on Dec 29th and a LOT of products will now be coming out with Stevia in it since many people are looking to get rid of chemically based sweetners. I love my Stevia but saw Truvia in the store and I am not familiar with it.

Truvia is made from a leaf. I think it's the same as Stevia.

Truvia is stevia. I just picked it up and read at the grocery store yesterday.
Stevia is good, sweeter than a lot of artificial sweeteners.

The truvia is stevia, that's correct. I got a box of 40 for $3.49 + 55 cent off coupon so I thought I'd give it a shot. It is very strong!! I only need one packet for a cup of coffee. If someone would have told me it's sugar, I would believe it! It doesn't have that splenda aftertaste. I'd recommend giving it a shot.

BTW - the only bad thing is that I've ONLY seen it in packets at the grocery store and other stevia based sweeteners at health food stores.. so it's not like you can bake with it :(

I prefer the Starbucks brand, but usually drink Folger's. It's half the price. I drink it with milk and Splenda.

This week I started stirring cinnamon powder into the coffee grounds to brew and it tastes like you are drinking oatmeal. A mistake I made this morning....I put a tablespoon in the filter and then coffee grounds on top and it clogged the filter and I had to start over. Another option is if you grind the beans, put some cinnamon sticks in there to grind as well. Yummy!

i'm a starbucks fan, i like iced espresso and iced coffees. i have an espresso machine at home, and use starbucks espresso roast. i also really like guatemalan coffees. I used light plain soymilk at home, but at work i use a splash of regular half and half, cause i can't do the skim milk, and the soy milk there is full fat and too much sugar. i don't use any sugar at all in my coffee, unless i'm splurging, and then i like a packet of raw sugar.

So long as it is a dark espresso type roast, whole beans that I grind myself, I am happy. No brand has totally wowed me that I have to use it continually whether from a gourmet coffee shop or the grocery store.

However, I LOVE my espresso machine, plus the milk foamer for a latte/cappucino. I am on my second machine (the first milk foamer broke after 2 years). I thought it was too epensive, DH did the math and for it is about $0.10-.15 a day - very econmical! And it maks me very happy.

Joni, I think you'll get a lot out of the discussion we had on coffee creamers in the coffee creamers?? (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133008)thread. It was a very spirited discussion with a lot of great ideas.

As for Truvia, even though I really like it a lot, you should all know that it's NOT just Stevia. In fact, Stevia is the second ingredient. The first is erythritol, which is a naturally-occuring sugar alcohol. Yes, it does have the same unfortunate side-effects of all sugar alcohols--indigestion, gas, etc. I wrote to the Truvia people because, unlike other products with sugar alcohols, it doesn't have a recommended daily serving (to avoid side effects). They wrote back to say that most people can consume 32g of erythritol a day without effects, but I still don't know how many grams of erythritol are in each packet. Oy!

Anyways, if you want to use just Stevia, you'll need to look to other products like those made by NuNaturals or SweetLeaf. RSN BSN, you'll find that these other products do sell Stevia in big jugs so you can bake with it, though. They also sell liquid forms that I assume you could use for baking as well. If you want to bake with erythritol, you'll find several brands of it in bags for baking, too. I use it a lot mixed with Splenda as it has a more granular texture.

I like Dunkin Donuts or the cafe near where I work. DH gets sick from the smell of coffee so I can't really make it at home. . .he is my hero tho and will go buy it for me.
When I make it at home I use instant *ducks* and either heat my milk in the micro and stir the coffee in or use FF half and half or if i dare to bring anything to work soy creamer plain anything else gets consumed by little work elves

I do like the taste of the coffeemate creamers but theres something in it that flares my fibromyalgia

Worst case scenario NF powdered Milk has been a godsend

The ONLY coffee that is allowed in my house is CDM (http://www.cafedumonde.com/) with chicory(Cafe Du Monde)...
with fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and a little Splenda...
We are very serious about our coffee here!!!

My family is from Lake Charles, LA. They insist on bringing their own Community Coffee when they visit.

I like Community also..especially the cafe blend served in restaurants...
but to me the CDM has a bit more richness to it.
We also bring our own coffee whenever we travel..anything else tastes like brown water to us!!...

But, starbucks is pretty ok....We have a starbucks at the gym and I get one every morning when I'm finished working out and steaming before I head to work.

Alright, I have to admit...I'm not a huge fan of Community Coffee...I find the aftertaste off. It starts off nice and rich and then has an odd finish - it isn't bitter, I can't really explain it.

CDM coffee is pretty good, although I'm not really a fan of chickory in my coffee.

There really isn't much of a selection around here - it's either Starbucks or Community. Starbucks is almost always overroasted, so I try to avoid it as much as I can.

We drink a lot of espresso and my favorite has been an espresso roast from a little store here that roasts their own beans.

For more readily available coffee, we really like Caribou's Obsidian blend. Nice and dark and for as dark as it is, I've never found it to be overroasted or burnt.

I've also been experimenting with organic coffees when I'm in a place that sells it. It has been really well received with DH.

Speaking of coffee, I think I'll brew a bit.
