Default edamame ideas

Hi all! So, I bought a bag of edamame beans in shell, I just steamed them- now what should i do with them? lol any ideas??? I didn't realize you don't eat the shell so I think I read somewhere about marinating them in shell and then just popping out after but I can't remember for sure so, I call on my sister chickies for help!

I snack on edamame. Basically pop the seeds from the shell and eat.

Yup. Steam them in the microwave, and then squeeze the shells until the bean pops .. enjoy! I sometimes sprinkle mine with a little kosher salt, but not always. Depends on how much other salty food I've had that day.

Me too, I keep them in the fridge and grab a handful to munch. They are addictive, like peanuts. Good on salads too.

I've yet to find them up here in the Great White North.

Ruth, Do you have an organic grocery store or a Whole Foods or something like that? I get mine in the organic frozen foods section of my grocery store.

Oh oh oh ... I just thought - do you get to Ottawa at all? I know there's a Sam's Club in Ottawa and I buy frozen bags of edamame at my Sam's sometimes. You could maybe call them and see if they have it?

They are also good roasted....think the chick pea recipe but sub edamame. I usually just roast them with a little olive oil and kosher salt.

Ruth - I buy them all the time in Costco. Twelve containers for $10.89 until recently they were $8.99 They last a long time in the freezer.
I actually had some today, with canned salmon, a little onion and mayo and that will be my salad for two days. There's a Costco in Kingston too. But I guess a membership just for you would not be worthwhile. Maybe you know someone who has a membership.
Sophie
p.s. I also sprinkle some garlic salt on them from time to time.

Thanks for the great ideas guys- I just ate them as is and they were super yummy! I put em in a ziplock baggie for future snacking- they have a kinda nutty flavor! I will have to try roasting them...

I found these just in the frozen section of our regular grocery store(krogers)

They made a great addition to salads and tossed into soups, too. I usually keep a bag of Trader Joe's Roasted Edamame & Goji Berry Mix in my car for something to munch on when I'm on the go all day.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have a Costco membership - not worth it for me - but have friends who do. I'll add them to their grocery list and will also check out a couple of stores next time I'm in Ottawa.
