Default Revelation #1 - Counting calories does not mean you have to be hungry

So ok I'm going to give props to DailyPlate again. I was looking at my calories for the day and had been slightly hungry on and off all day. I decided I wanted to eat enough to feel full - not stuffed, but satisfied.

So I started thinking about what I could make with what I had. Using DailyPlate I played around with a couple ideas and came up with a salad full of spinach, mushrooms sauteed in butter, plenty of chicken breast, and some blue cheese dressing.

It sounds extravagent but by carefully limiting the amount of butter and dressing used I had a wonderfully filling salad that was about 450 calories. That leaves me with calories left over for the day and a satisfied tummy. '

I keep thinking "this must be cheating" but then I realized it was fewer calories that the small dried noodle/soup package in my cupboard.

Hooray for DailyPlate which helped me figure it out and hooray for raw spinach and mushrooms and chicken breasts!

I totally agree. I was (and still am!) totally suprised that I can eat 1800 cal's of lots of good healthy foods and never feel hungry. I've felt real hunger maybe twice during the day? It's awesome huh!

It's just so the opposite of what I expected. I ended up trying to eat more whole foods/less processed foods sort of on a whim a few weeks ago and it has made the whole transition to fewer calories quite a bit easier.

It is great indeed!
