Angry The scale is my nemisis!

I have a love hate relationship with my scale, take today for instance...I get home from work, hop on the scale and I'm 240! Down 2lbs from Wednesday's weigh in...I'm thrilled -- Soo close to the 230's, now I have hope for hitting the 230's this coming Wednesday -- However...now, 4 hours later, after dinner and after some quality time with Desperate Housewives lol, I get on the scale again, and now it's 243! UP a pound from Wednesday!!! Grrr! Now I realize its night, not my official weight in time, and I ate spaghetti them laid around for four hours lol It just frustrates me lol Does anyone else have this kind of relationship with their scale? I am constantly weighing myself, several times a day lol I'm obsessed.

I used to be like that .. but you need to atleast try to weigh yourself just once a week and not take any sneak peaks because i felt that it was holding me back.

You can't get an accurate weight if you're weighing constantly. Your body is going to fluctuate up to like 10 lbs of water weight. Weigh yourself at the same time of day each time you weigh, and try to only do so once every week or two. If you can't wait that long, then atleast no more than once a day. When you are obsessing over the scale like this you are going to get frustrated and set yourself up to fail. Take a step back, make smart choices, and have faith that with healthy eating and exercise you will see results. You must have patience... ;-) xoxoxo

I'm like you. I weigh myself multiple times a day, and yo-yo between feelings of elation, and feelings of frustration.

For example, I weighed myself tonight at 158.6 and felt sick with the lack of loss, despite the fact that I weigh myself officially in the mornings and I always weigh less then... it's very disheartening. But it's HARD to stay away from the scale when it has the ability to make you feel so FANTASTIC when the numbers are going the right way.

It was a good article. I too am a compulsive weigher. I'm working on it. Luckily, this morning the scale was in my favor.

I'd put my scale away and only bring it out when its time to weigh in.

You step on the scale, eat dinner, and then step on the scale again and expect it not to weigh more? That sounds a little silly, to me.

You're putting food into your body and before it has the time to properly digest and go through your system, you're weighing yourself! Of course you're going to weigh more!

I can't handle weighing myself once a day, so my scale is hidden until Sunday. Every Sunday it comes out and I weigh myself and then it gets hidden again.

You're going to drive yourself crazy if you keep weighing yourself the way that you are. If you enjoy driving yourself crazy, then go ahead and continue... but you know what they say the definition of insanity is, yes?

My scale's put away in a cupboard.

Unfortunately, as the cupboard door is not welded shut, I somehow manage to open it multiple times a week.

nicoledg - I am totally there with you! How is it I weigh 194 at night and then 196 in the morning. WHAT GIVES? How coudl I possibly gain weight while I sleep? Maybe I have that sleepwalking eating disorder.... ok, probably not, but still. It is frustrating!
