I know this forum is called "Chicks in Control", but I'm totally not in control. I eat at night. I actually wake up around 11pm or 12am and it kinda feels like I need to have something in order to get back to sleep. I'm already on plenty of sleeping pills and I still wake up around the same time every night and do this. I don't really binge or anything, it's really just a bowl of cereal, but I'd like it to stop. I have a dietitian, and we've spoke of moving the "snack" to an earlier time, but it doesn't work. I still wake up. It also doesn't work if I occupy myself with other things. I still can't get back to sleep. What can I do?
If you are on Ambien, from what I've heard/read that could be the culprit. If that's it, maybe you could wean off it and try something else. Best of luck... I, too, generally eat great all day and then fall of the wagon at night. For me it's a very hard habit to break... I am still working on it.

Well, if you're not eating a huge amount, just a bowl of cereal, is that really a problem? If it helps you go back to sleep, why not eat at night? I'd just count it into my daily calories...(or 24hrly calories, perhaps I should say )I don't buy that stuff about not eating after x p.m. myself. I'm an old-fashioned girl, and in my experience it's calories in versus calories out....
Hi, I do the same thing... My case is a little different, I take my sleeping meds and I think I lose my ability to 'fight' through the cravings.
Earlier in the evening if I want food that I really shouldn't have, I can distract myself, talk myself out of it, or make a better choice... But once I take the meds I give in to temptation..so much easier... I don't keep a lot of junk around but I manage to overeat what ever is there... I'm working on it... its not easy... I don't have answers, just wanted to say I relate... Good Luck..
