My 9 year old daughter is a little wide around the middle and I'm having difficulty finding clothes (particularly pants/jeans) to fit her. I live in the UK but will be in New York in 3 weeks time and would like to find some cute clothes for her that fit. Which stores stock girls plus fit clothes? I have bought Land's End clothing for her mail order where a 12+ fits her fine.

Many thanks

Kitty

I would try Sears (they definately have a plus girls dept) or other department stores. :)

I used to wear a lot of the "Pretty Plus" clothes from Sears when I was her age. They were the same exact styles as the regular clothes, just a little bigger. I have no idea if they still have that exact line, but I second the idea of trying department stores.

Thanks, all. I like the look of the Old Navy stuff. Its not a store we have in the UK, at least not around here.

I did get her some nice stuff in Old Navy mainly skorts for summer. They were regular size as well in a girls 14.

My daughter loves the Limited Too plus clothes. She was wearing a 14 and they were way to long, a sales lady gave her a 10+ and they fit beautifully. She is also 9, and still has her baby buddha belly. She has been eating healthy all summer in an effort to lose her belly before school starts.

JCPenney has a junior plus section.

If they fit in the waist, you could always hem them up with a few stitches, that's what I do with mine.

I'm another one suggesting Sears. My DD used to wear their stuff between growth spurts and it worked out perfectly. VERY cute and contemporary clothes in sizes and cuts that fit her well, for the most part.

Thanks for the recommendation Danemom. I placed an order from Limited Too and the clothes arrived yesterday. My daughter loved them all and they fit. Better still most of what I bought was clearance with a further 30% discount. Even the international shipping cost with Fed Ex was reasonable.

Oooh...glad i ran across this thread. My 8 year old daughter is a little "thick" around the middle too. And i want to her to wear clothes that fit her that are not a mile long just so they fit in the waist. I think i'll check out some of these stores too!!!

You can try searching online with the following keywords: girl's dresses+plus sizes. You might get a number of online shopping websites who sells dresses for girls. They might also be selling plus sizes dresses which will definitely fit your daughter.

Its amazing how an old thread like this can get resurrected! My DD is now 11 (nearly 12). She's still quite chunky for her age but has managed to maintain her weight recently whilst increasing only in height. Clothes wise now I find that young petite ladies cothing seem to fit the bill and I'm sure in another year she won't even need the petite clothing.
