Unhappy New Job, totally frustrated..

Hey all
So I got a new job, which is great, financially! But there are quite a few draw-backs...
I'm not dancing as much because it's getting close to the end of the year and recital time, so I'm doing much more watching than dancing in my classes... So there goes my main source of exercise...
My new job has me working 10 hour shifts, which is hard to stand for the whole time-- so I'm trying! but basically I'm stuck in a tiny 3X6' area by myself, and I have a TON of free time... where I'm tempted to sit and eat candy. (oh god, the candy...)
Also, ok, I work in a casino-- so ALL I get to eat is Casino Food (think Diner food..but greasy.. )
I've been getting the Turkey Avacado Wrap (Turkey, Cheddar Cheese, Tortilla, Tomatoes, Avacado, and Lettuce), but it comes with French Fries or Onion Rings... *sigh* those onion rings will be my downfall. (and already have been).

But I think the worst thing of it all is that I'm working 8pm-6am... so it's really hard for me to track my food on one day (I'm using dailyplate--which I LOVE) if I'm sleeping from 7 or 8am-4 or 6pm...

Also, there's TONS of drama at work, which I won't get into here, but it's super stressing me out.... And I'm only an on-call, so I don't know if I'll have to work 10a-8p or 8p-6a any given day!
I'm on call until they have a shift for me... but... AUGH! I'm going CRAZY!!! And I've gained about 6 lbs in the past month... It's still less than I was before, but I was 1LB away from my mini goal!!! *sigh*

I have a new resolution, and goal to work for-- my brothers wedding is at the end of June, so I'd like to be down to the measurements I said I am!! If not thinner..

oi oi oi.
Ok i guess I just needed to rant. I'm just having a hard time tracking everything, getting my jobs done, getting exercise in, and worst of all, my stamina in dance SUCKS right now I can barely get through warm-ups without feeling like I'm going to die!!! gr.
ok I'm done.

I hope everyone else is having a better week than I am!!!!!

Casinos are a tough place to work. Particularly that graveyard shift!

If it's encouraging at all, when I worked in one about 8 years ago (graveyard shift) I gained a little a first and lost (without a huge amount of effort or awareness) a pretty decent amount of weight once my system acclimated to the new schedule. I credit the loss to all of the standing and moving around.

I avoided the bad food and steered towards the limited choices of better food. If there weren't better choices available I would limit myself to a few small snacks and eat when I got home. You don't have to get, much less eat the fries or onion rings- right?

Most casinos will have a few healthier choices. Are you eating from an employee buffet or a stand? Chances are if you befriend whomever works the food they could scrape up a salad for you. Some of the ingredients for the wrap could be an awesome salad! When I had a ton of free time (which happens mid-week in a casino at 3 am) I'd just clean, move- anything that wouldn't get a laughing call from surveillance. I know it's hard. Casinos are usually an unfriendly environment at first, it's all alien and Jerry Springer. You'll figure out how to make this work there!

ETA~ Also watch that you're getting enough calories. At first the graveyard shift wiped me out so much I was only having one meal a day (before I lost any weight there), I had no energy for anything except to sleep and work. I don't know the calorie count of what you're eating, but if it's ALL you're eating it's probably not enough or helping your metabolism at all. Your poor body probably doesn't know left from right at this time. It'll all straighten out soon.

Thanks for the support!!
I'm so glad to know that I'm not going crazy (or at least, if I am, I'm not alone in it!!)

Yeah-- I was super active my first couple of weeks training, and I lost like 4 lbs, then I gained 7 when I'm working on my own.... I think a little bit of it is that I'm not wanting to leave the cage since I don't really know any of the dealers, so I can't talk to anyone... (plus it's frowned upon to leave, anyways!)

I've been taking the initiative to be more active this weekend, and even if I don't lose any weight, I'm feeling SO much better! The sun is shining, I'm on a "daytime schedule" (ugh still staying up until 5am..)

Yeah-- I should probably just order my food without onion rings or fries! lol See if I can get a side salad... I get too overwhelmed eating just a salad, and never finish it... and I feel like I need all of the energy in the world in order to make it through my closing paperwork! aiee!

I guess I'll take a look at hte menu and see what options they have for me

thanks!!

Good luck! You mentioned cage- which is where I worked as well. Are you a cashier or dealer? If a cashier, and if your casino uses tokens/Jet Sort machines- hefting those coin bags around kicked my butt into shape! I'd move everyones- I was like an insane hyperactive toddler, but it really burned some serious calories.

You really can do it!
