I have learned that portion control is my enemy and I am learning to size appropritely.

Do any of you have suggestions for a good food scale? There are so many varieties out there and I am swimming in TOO MUCH INFORMATION!

I have an "antique" cuisinart scale. It is analog. Find something that you like and can afford and check it with something of a known weight and see how close it is. I know what you mean about too much information. I always research the heck out of anything I think I want. Sometimes it's better to just DO it.

I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $30 (a little steep, but worth it). It is by Good Cook and it is digital. It can measure food by grams, ounces, or pounds. Also, comes with a nice little tray to weigh food on. You can also just put your bowl or plate on it and set it to zero. Good luck.

I ordered the most reviewed one on Amazon.com, the Escali Primo Digital Multifunctional Scale.

We'll see how it works!

I have had a Salton for 5+ years now and love it. I have 'checked' it from time to time and it is accurate. It's glass weighing surface is easy to keep clean.

I have a Canada Post scale from 1972 that I got at a yard sale for $1. It weighs very accurately by 2 ounces for the first pound and by 4 ounces for every pound after that up to 5 pounds. I can tell if the food I'm eating is worth a first class or third class mail rate!! The only drawback is that it weighs in ounces and pounds and in Canada food is packaged and sold in grams and kilograms. Oh, well for a dollar it was certainly worth the price.

retiredone, you can become fluent in both systems! Probably the scale doesn't go high enough to use for postage anymore.

Jerzy, your scale sounds like a designer original!

I have a Weight Watchers electronic food scale. It weighs in grams as well as ounces. It also has a food database that can tell you how many points value the food is when measuring the weight. I love it. It is very accurate and easy to use.

I have an old electronic Weight Watchers scale. No food database, just simple grams/ounces. I find the simpler the better for me. Had it for almost 10 years--buttons are cracked but still going strong.

Edited to add: WOW--just realized, I've gained and lost over a hundred pounds over the years while having this scale. When I stop putting food on it, I start putting too much food in me, lol.
