Question about TV trailers for family vs. adult movies
Watching TV last night, I saw a plug for the upcoming Abigail Breslin movie Nim's Island. I noticed a trait I've seen before (maybe not as much in recent years) in promos for family films: the voiceover crams in as much detail about the plot as is possible in 25 words or less ('Nim lives on an island with her father and is about to go on the adventure of her life ...'). When it's adult movies (by "adult" I DO NOT mean porn or NC17, I mean your basic PG13 or R movie): you won't find anything like "Llewellyn Moss takes $2m from the scene of a drug deal gone bad, now Anton Chigurh is after him and maaaan is he a bad-@$$": there probably isn't a voiceover and such taglines as are used are teasers like "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water". What's with the difference: Do parents want more detail? Not being a parent I wouldn't know
