As of today, my BMI is officially 29.9 and I am no longer in the "obese" category!!!
I am personally not a fan at all of the BMI charts, being large boned and rather muscular, BUT it still feels good to know that I am no longer considered obese by the "general standard"
yay!! i know what you mean -- those labels feel a little generic, but still good to know you've got yourself a "lighter" label!

Lizzy, the labels are really annoying to me but it does feel good! i mean, right now i wear an 8 or a 10 in pants depending on the rise (i have a thick waist or slim hips, depending on how you want to look at it, the lower the rise, the smaller my size) and up until a pound ago i was obese! lol! i figure if i continue to lose inches and sizes at the rate i'm currently losing them as i lose weight, when i hit goal i'm going to be about a 6 or a 4, again depending on the rise. and i'll still be 5lb "overweight" according to the NIH. on my planet, i think that's pretty small and definitely acceptable lol.
Congratulations on your achievement of now being classed as overweight by the BMI scale. I know it is not the most accurate scale in the world but it is the most widely use so you like myself can not help comparing ourselves on that scale. Enjoy your success as you deserve to do so.
I agree -- no matter is the BMI is accurate or not, everyone uses it and it must feel great to be able to leave one category for another -- and I was thinking as I read the title how exciting it was for you and wondered if people who weren't "3FC's" would think you were upset about being "overweight"!!
Also, you can think of it this way -- I know as a medical transcriptionist I hate typing that someone is "morbidly obese, obese, etc." onto a chart -- now your doctor has to leave any of those "o-words" behind!! Yours should put "healthy, average weight, happy female..."
Congrats to you!! I am sure it feels great to be able to say that. It is funny that a size 10 is over weight. I cant wait to fit back into a size 10. I hope by summer I can say the same.
I can't wait for the day when I can announce the same ^^ Well... announce on 3FC
lol!! You'll get there sooner than you think. It's taken me a long time to get there but it still seems like no time at all. I want to shout it out to the world! I am one of those people for whom BMI is pretty much bunk, so I do think the label is pretty amusing. I told my boyfriend one day when we were talking about my weight loss that I am considered obese still, bordering on overweight (this was the other week) and he laughed and has been calling me the "skinny obese" girl for a little while now.
all I really WANT now is to firm up/lose some of my stomach (i know you can't spot lose, but i think another 20/25 lbs is all i need to get there, with a little added exercise). I think I look GREAT now, and can't wait to look AMAZING.
Right now is one of the moments that i wish I had taken pictures, or saved some old clothes just so i could show off the difference.
karmuz - I know what you mean about the BMI not being the be all end all. Nor do I think it should be. (Like you said earlier... still nice to be able to say "no longer generally though of as obese".) Have you taken any pictures now? If nothing else, you could have some pics from this moment
