Default Long-time Chocoholic needs help

I LOVE chocolate. I don't need a lot, just a bit, to satisfy my cravings. I find that if I don't get my chocolate fix, I obsess over wanting something and will just about eat everything in sight with no satisfying end.

So, my cry for help is this: what can a chocoholic have to get a fix that won't also destroy a healthy diet low in fat? I'm currently taking Alli and trying tofollow the plan.

THANKS!

I eat chocolate chips. or no sugar added chocolate. I pretty much do this daily and have still managed to lose 16lbs this way. I think moderation is the key. I have heard of people having a hershey kiss a day.

If you don't need a lot, you'll probably consume less total calories by eating a small piece of high quality chocolate than eating a ton of other things in an attempt to substitute. If I were you, I would plan a small piece of chocolate into my diet plan and only buy that amount. Good luck.

I like fat free, sugar free chocolate pudding and South Beach Diet Chocolate High Protein Cereal Bars for chocolate cravings. These items also make me feel full. Caution I am not sure of the fat content of SBD bar.

I LOVE Swiss Miss' Diet Hot Cocoa. Only around 25 calories per packet, no fat, and 30% daily value of calcium!

Thank you all for responding! Good ideas, all of you! (Except for the coffee thing, I'm not a fan of coffee - lol)

Me23 - that was my thought exactly, so I decided to head to the store before my head exploded. lmao Here is what I ended up with (and BOY, did I EVER behave myself). I picked up and put back SO MANY THINGS!

I got:
fun size 3 musketeers. Only 63.33 cal/2g fat g ea
Fiber One oats & chocolate bars 140 cal /4 fat g ea (very satisfying - just tried one.)

I think I AM going to have to plan on it in my diet (I am doing the Alli plan). Its my only vice. I don't smoke, drink much alky, nor coffee... so, a little chocolate a day it is!

Wouldn't it be great to have a list of healthy (or slighly guiltless) chocolate snack ideas for the chocoholics among us (and for us, of course!)?

*adding to list*

mmmm... I LOVE chocolate pudding. I haven't gotten it in a while because that one I do have a hard time stopping when I start. But I could probably learn how to savor it.

Definately gonna add the hot cocoa to my grocery list. It's cold where I am and its sounds lovely.

I eat the sugar free 60 calorie double chocolate pudding cups. SO GOOD! And since it is in a pre-packaged little cup, I'm able to stop at one.

More cowbell! I mean - more chocolate!

Usually, when I have a sweet craving, it's quantity over quality. If I let myself get too hungry, I start binging non-stop. I think, for myself, I have to regularly let myself have some every day so I don't feel deprived.

I have noticed that I always want sweets after a meal, so those low-fat pudding cups have been great. A little bit of chocolate drizzled over fruit.

I with you on that. I am sticking with the idea to plan for a bit of chocolate in my diet so I don't binge on everything else to make up for it.

I've heard that pudding with grahm crackers tastes absolutely sinful, but I wonder if the grahm crackers would push the fat and cals up too much.. need to look into it I guess.

One thing that helps me with chocolate is to drink hot cocoa, but of the dark variety (VanHouten and the likes). I also can't stand drinking a lot of milk, so I make my cocoa with hot water. In the end, it makes it for a very chocolaty taste with not so many calories.
