Maria I am happy that you decided not to take the Valium. Good choice. Here's hoping that the weekend is beautiful. Go and enjoy the day. We all can't wait to see the pictures. I have a funny story. My friends dd is getting married in April and she wants her dog [a boxer] to walk down the aisle with her. I understand the priest was speechless when she asked and I don't think it is going to happen. Karen I am happy that your dd made the decision to go to WW. I also have a son needs to lose but can't see it. We also have a lot of heart disease in my family. I keep hoping that he will wake up and do something about it. Have to go send a package to a friend in Florida - I feel like putting myself in the box. It is rainy here today and chilly. Have a good one,

G'day all
You will all be happy to hear that this is the last post before the big day;)
It is 9 am here on a very hot day and the forecast is for another very hot day tomorrow, 38 degrees or 102 degrees F.:o
The wedding is at 11 am and it is in the Mt Lofty Ranges which is always a little cooler than on the Adelaide Plains (http://www.oztravel.com.au/travel_mall/hotels/Grand_Mercure_HCrafers.html) it should be still reasonably cool at 11 in the morning and then afterwards the room where the reception is, is airconditioned.
The bride and groom are getting very excited, the groom will farewell his bride about lunchtime today before meeting again at the wedding.
I feel more in control and hope I don't make too much of a spectacle of myself:dizzy: . I just read dh's speech which was a bit of a tear jerker but I have to say he did say it all beautifully and did not 'waffle' for too long.
Thank you all for your support, I know I am pathetic :( ,your advice etc has been very much appreciated.
Stay tuned, the next post will be the outcome of the festivities and I hope to post photos as soon as I can, possibly Monday.
Cheers for now

Dear Maria this is a very special time in your daughter's life but it is also is a very special time in yours. I have enjoyed hearing all about the plans for the wedding as I would from my friends who I "see". I know that everything will turn out beautifully and that you will be the loviest Mother of The Bride that any of the guests has ever seen. :)
I'm looking forward to hearing all about the wedding and of course to seeing some pictures. Enjoy this special day, because it will go so quickly. Slavika

Peggy: Never heard of taking a dog down the asile before. But there is always a first! :)

Hi to all,
I am the one who gave this group it's name! Haven't posted in a long, long while but just wanted to drop in and say Hi!
My DH who was out of work for 18 months just got hired yesterday at a permanent job, so we are celebrating.
I am working a lot of hours and don't have the time to read and post like I used to.
Just wanted to wish all of you well!
Love,

Hi Carrie it's sure is nice "seeing" you. I remember you. What great news about your hubby getting permanent work. Boy that had to have been a difficult 18 months for both of you. I'm not sure, but I think I remember you said you had a couple of kids, but I don't know if they are still in school or not.
How have you been doing in the weight loss dept? LOL :D You can just tell me, I won't tell the rest of the gals. :) Try and stop by more often, love to "see" you.
I did some baking this morning and then this afternoon I had a lake friend over for tea. Nothing else is new with me. Hope you gals all have a nice evening.

Maria: I know you will be a most beautiful mother of the bride, and will be just fine. Looking forward to the pictures. We'll all be waiting to see that new dress you worked so hard to wear, and be sleek.
Lily-Slavika- If you want to refresh your memories and swoon a little, check out A&E I believe at 5:00p.m. est. I catch him every now and then. What a handsome man!!!!!
Peggy: I'm happy to hear the Priest prevailed and the dog stays home. That just proves it takes all kinds. :D
Tonight was our Chili party. About 82 people. Everyone broughjt some of their favorite chili, and it was all dumped into some great big pots. I brought the white chili for those of us who do not do tomato. The whole thing was a big success, we did line dancing and square dancing, and now I am tired:yawn: and ready for bed.
Dee: Have a wonderful time in Mexico, and be sure to bring back some of that great silver jewelry.
Carrie: I've joined the group since you started it. Happy that your dh has found a job. That makes for stress and strain for such a long time.
Karen: Glad your daughter is on the program. Mine went back and had to call and gloat a little, that she had lost 5 lbs the first week. Weight-in tomorrow. Hope all the exercise to day will halp the numbers go down.
Trudy: Hope your Mom is doing well. You take care too.
Have a lovely week-end all and will see you later. Ann

Dear all,
I have only very briefly read the posts but I thought I must let you all know that the wedding and the open house was great.:) :) :)
Our daughter was just beautiful and the whole day was unforgettable. Yes, I did shed a few tears but I wasn't as bad as I thought I would be.
I do have some photos but I am very pushed for time, at the end of the week we are off to Sydney, this week it is catching up with our friends, very little spare time to do anything!
As soon as we get to Sydney (Feb 9) my priority will be to post some photos to share.
In the meantime, you are all in my mind and I thank you all sincerely for the good wishes. I may not get a chance to post till we get to Sydney, when I do you had better get yourself a coffee, put your feet up for a long read:D :D
Cheers

Hi Everybody
Maria ahh I knew that everything would be just great at the wedding. Mind you, sometimes when things go wrong or something funny happens you remember that for years to come, and tell the story over and over. I was bridesmaid for a cousin (years and years ago), and she was a very outgoing happy girl, always smiling and laughing, like she never worried about a thing in her life. Well, it was Catholic wedding, and the Priest wraps this "shawl like" thing around the hands of the couple getting married and right then my cousin faints dead away, nearly dragging the priest and her soon to be husband with her as they were all sort of joined with this "shawl".
She was only "out" for a moment or two, and we help her up and two seconds later, she faints again. LOL :D. The priest at that point finished marrying them, with both the bride and groom sitting on chairs. :) I guess he thought he better not take any chances. LOL I remember THAT wedding better then any other wedding I ever attended.
When you write your nice long post about the wedding I will already be in Maui. If I have access to a computer I will read it there and if not I will have lots to read when I get home. :)
It is very very cold out, not fun being out there today. I have my grandbabies over today, so I picked up some pizza's for dinner (from the market, they make them fresh) and I will make a huge Greek salad to go with it for DH and I. My Son will join us too, when he comes to pick up the children.
Last week at WW we were talking about the different weight loss programs that are out there. Apparently, there was something on Good Morning America (I think that was the show) and WW really got the thumbs up as being a good healthy weight loss program. Some other programs were discussed, like Jennie Craig and some doctor's program too. Jennie Craig, cost a lot because you have to buy their food and I think our Leader said that costs around $200.00 per week. I don't see much reason for buying pre packaged food and having that every day until you lose all your weight. I don't think you would learn any good eating habits from that. I was thinking about that today, because I was buying the pizza. I CAN have pizza for dinner tonight, with the kids, and a nice big salad with a little feta cheese on it. On some weight loss programs that would be an absolute no-no. :)
I guess Dee is enjoying the sun in Mexico, lucky gal.
Talk to you all later.

MAria: I cant wait to hear about the wedding! Sounds like all went well! Enjoy your week at home before you have to leave again.
Slavika: What a funny wedding! Poor girl fainting like that.
I agree on the diets that when you buy thier food it doesnt work. I was on Nutri System years ago. Cost a fortune! I lost really fast to. But it was hard to keep off once I got to eat real food again. WW is great because you can eat what ever you want. And you are learning how to!
Glenda: Yes let us know the results! Im sure they are good!
Really cold here to. They kept saying it was going to snow. Didnt see it, but it was cold enough to. Suns out now. Cant wait for spring.
Later!

Hi Lily I went to Nutri System too. I actually went to two different places. One place (I think it was Nutri System) you bought the food from them, and I remember this "hamburger" that was like dried up cardboard that you had to add water to....then it puffed up and looked like wet cardboard and tasted like cardboard too. LOL :D The other weight loss clinic I went to, you were allowed only 600 calories per day and you went every day to be weighed (except on the weekends) and they gave you a mega vitamin pill. Boy, I sure lost 30# in a hurry there and gained it back almost immediately. :(
Well, I sure won't put my body through any of those programs again. :)
Talk to you tomorrow. Night.

Hi everyone.
Maria: We all knew you would do just fine with the wedding, and sounds like you had a wonderful time. Tears of joy are good! Even tears for "losing" you little girl, but you are gaining a son. :D
We will surely be happy to see your pictures. Do have a safe trip to Sidney. You didn't mention how your DH made out with his bum achilles tendon, so guess that did not pose any problem.
Slavika: I agree with you about WW. I guess we have all done the 'dumb diets' before. And then put all the weight right back on and more. I even remember drinking some horrible stuff, before
Slim Fast. A powder you had to mix with water. Can't remember what it was called. Also remember doing the head of icebueg lettuce at every meal, and with tomato juice. That was it for a week. Yuck:p What crazy stuff. It seems that nearly everyone at WW has done something of the crazy stuff. It is great to be able to eat whatever, and just figure the points. A gal at our meeting brought an old WW plan from the early years. What a lits of restrictions. And it was eating fish 5 times a week. How WW has changed. Have a great vacation. We do want to hear about Tom!
Glenda: All waiting for your good news.
Want you all to know that I have been keeping my New Years resolution to finish my quilt. I only have one more block to quilt, finish a small portion of border, and then trim and put on the binding. Can hardly believe that I am finally this close to the end.
Hi ya'll. Ann

01-28-2002, 10:58 PM
It has been a very long tiring week. Mom is doing really well and will be coming home tomorrow. She has about a 74 degree bend in her leg now and hopefully with the exercises it will be 90 or better soon. About 5 hrs of my day would be spent in driving to the hosp and visiting every day, so when I got home and did everything else I would be very tired. Unfortunately, that did not mean I would sleep.... so I am kind of wrung out. Our Medicare covers the entire hospital stay plus the upcoming physio therapy, and the Home Care she will be needing. She will only need a couple of visits from the home care worker and that will be to show her a "new way" of having a shower with the chair. I think that our Medicare system is great, but it looks like it will be changing in the near future.
I enjoyed reading all the posts since the 21st, you gals sure do give me a laugh..:D..
Glad Maria's DD went off beautifully and I am looking forward to hearing the details and seeing the pictures.
Going to miss my pal Slavika for a month, ....it doesn't look as if I will make Tea Time tomorrow, but haven't given up on the possibility. Save me a spot, just in case :D.
I was supposed to see my Dr tomorrow to discuss the GERD and the possibility of increasing the Losec for a short time, but I had to cancel the appt because it conflicted with my Mom's discharge from the hospital. Not good... but I will be making another appt as soon as I find out what my routine will be.
Well, that is as exciting as my life is these days... have a good day tomorrow all....

Trudy I am glad your mom is doing o.k. I know that is hard on you. Hope you can go to tea time for a quick break. You need it. Slavika I loved the story about the bride. Too funny. Glenda what are the test results? I am going to a Chinese buffet with my neighbor today. She is celebrating her 80 something birthday. I try to stay away from buffets but it is her choice. See you all later,

Good morning all; I just remembered the name of the yucky drink mix. Metrecal. Anybody else ever try that.
I think I am waiting in line to see the pictures as I can't get the site right now. But I'm sure they are great.:D
Trudy: You do sound like you need about 24hr. of rest and relaxation. Will it be easier when your Mom gets home? Having a physical therapist come in to help with exercises will be good.:dz:
Peggy: Chinese can be very good, but I know buffets are hard. I see it I want it. We went to one on Sunday, but it also has a Mongolian Barbecue where I could get just stirfried vegetables and a little chicken stirred in. I went for that and the egg drop soup, and didn't have too many points. The worst part is the sodium. Makes me retain fluid. Always something!!!:dizzy:
Slavika: Sure hope you have a lovely time on your vacation. Got this recipe from a WW friend for Dreamsicle pudding. It sounds really good, but I haven't tried it yet as I don't have all the ingredients.
Dreamsicle Pudding
1 box instant vanilla pudding sugar free(2 pts)
1 can mandarin oranges (1pt)
1 container (8oz.free) cool whip (6pts)
1 box sugar free orange jello (1pt)
Dissolve jellos in 1 cup boiling water. Add 3 icecubes to a cup and fill with cold water. Stir until dissolved and set aside for 5 minutes. to cool Drain oranges and set aside. with electric mixer stir in dry intant putting to jello, beating until pudding is well mixed. Let stand for 15 minutes. Then fold in the thawed Cool Whip, and then the oranges.
Serves 4
Serving size: 1 cup =2.5 points
Sounds good to me.
Haave a good day all. 'See' you later. Ann

Ann: Good for you getting your quilt done! Never tried Metrecal before. Have had that dessert before and it is yummy! Well worth a try!
Trudy: Glad your Mom is doing so well and she gets to come home!
Make sure you make that new appointment for you to. Thanks important for you. Hope you make the Tea time. You need a break and to relax a bit.

All - I got the results of my test yesterday and they were great! My number was a 4 and the lower the better. So, I am good again for another 6 months when I will be a basket case again. Thanks for all your good wishes! I am so blessed!
Maria - just looked at your pictures! You all looked so nice. Your daughter is just beautiful! It looks like a day that will be in your memory forever.
Trudy - Friend, I sure do relate to what you are going through, but it sounds as if your mom is doing wonderfully. When she is home, you will be so much better off because you won't have that long commute. I am so glad she was able to have the operation and that it was so successful!
Lily - must be quite a meeting you were involved in! So, I have heard that you all are cold. We are finally getting a little taste of winter today. It has been 40's and 50's, but today we are supposed to get sleet! Yuck!
I have been on every screwy diet ever invented by man and so miserable that I thought I would die! WW is so slooooow for me, but it is manageable. My doctor was so proud of me yesterday for the no-smoking thing that he just said to pat myself on the back and enjoy WW. A few years ago I got really skinny with the Fen-Phen combo that has caused so much grief with many people. The great thing about it was that I was not hungry at all, but the bad thing about it was that it could kill you. Not a good tradeoff!
Slavika - you are so right about the unplanned things at weddings that make you remember them. And give you years of laughter when you do remember them. Otherwise, there is no character to a large gathering, but something always happens that isn't in THE BOOK.
Peggy - I know you have had your buffet lunch by now and done well. The best thing about WW is that we can pick and choose. At WW the other day a girl told me that the awesome blossom they have at Chili's has 76 points. I will never again partake of that little (yummy) jewel!

Hi Everybody
Glenda I am truly happy for your great news. Now it's time to just relax, and smile a lot. :) :)
Lily thanks a lot for sharing that bit information with us about the onion. :( YIKES, every year when we go to Maui we go to the Outback Rest. and DH and I share a "bloomin onion". I'm "SURE" those are much much much lower in pts. LOL LOL :D No wonder I am always up 7 or 8 lbs when I get back from my winter holiday. :)
Peggy how did you make out at the chinese buffet. We have a couple in our City but I have not been for a couple of years now.
Ann I don't recall ever taking something called Metrecal, but I think maybe I have heard the name.
Maria how lovely you and your DD looked in the pictures. I did not know that she was not going to be wearing a traditional wedding gown. Is it the custom there for the bride to have a male attendant and the groom to have a female attendant, or did I read it wrong. I love reading about different customs and things like that, so when you do your"big post" please fill us in on all of those things. The weather sure looked good too. What a happy time for your whole family. :)
I went to WW today for the last time until I return from my holidays. With Dee away on holidays and Trudy busy with her Mom it was just me and another gal for tea. The one who is leaving for holidays to the Mayan Riviera. I was hoping that Trudy would find time to come, but Alas it was not to be. I'm sure her Mom is happy to be in her own place and in her own bed. :)
Have a nice evening everybody.

I don't always get a chance to check in, in the middle if the week . But needed to find out about the wedding, Glendas test and Trudy's mother.
Maria I went right to your picture page. You all looked just wonderful. You DD's dress was beautiful. My very favorite color is blue. She was a beautiful bride. You also looked wonderful. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the day .
Glenda glad you had a low number. Will you have to do this testing every 6 months forever? Way to nerve racking!
Trudy glad your mom is doing well. I'm sure she will be glad to be home. Hope it will be easier on you too. be sure you make that appointment with your doctor. Remember you will be no good for Mom if you get sick!!!
I think I was on every diet known to man also. Thank heavens for Weight Watchers. It's a "live it" I found my way into a new size of pants. Size 8:D I haven't been there in 25 years at least.
Slavika remember vacatin pounds most often have good memories attached. So if sharing one Blooming Onion with hubby is fun I say go for it. (but won't the onion repell Tom??)
Peggy hope you had fun at lunch with your friend.

Maria: I finally got to see your pictures. I say 'ditto' to what everyone else has said. Lovely garden, a beautiful bride and the brides Mom is a 'looker' too. Thanks for sharing with us so quickly.
Trudy: Also agree with everyone who says you need your appointment with the Doc too. Cause you want to stay healthy for yourself and for your Mom. Glad she is doing so well.
Glenda: Hurrah for you.:smug: Keep up the good work. And with each successive six month test you will feel more relaxed about it, I'm sure. It can't be easy, because it always seems easier to worry. :spin:
Peggy: I'm glad someone else remembers Metrecal. WW is certainly more pleasant and easier to live with.
Lily: Are you having snow? We are having fog. This has been a strange winter all over for weather. I'm glad that I can't eat the Bloomin' Onions. So I don't have to worry about giving them up.
76 points. That is about 3 days worth of points at once. :nono:
I'm on the home stretch on the quilt now. Just the binding to do. My dh is so happy to get the frame out of the living room.:D Now there is another grandbaby on the way so I have to build a baby quilt. But I won't need the frame.:D
