I'm rushing around getting ready for a much needed but DREADED Root Canal appointment!:p

How's YOUR Monday starting?

I've loaded up on anti-biotic "pre-meds" and a 1/2 of xanax:cool: and am raring to go!:dizzy: Wasn't so hungry so haven't ate yet. The AHA doesn't believe in pre-medicating with the anti-biotics anymore for folks with mitrol valave prolapse BTW.:?: I'm glad this dentist prescribed anyway - it was awful to watch my Mom go thru valve-transplant a few years back :( - never want to go there.

Hi everyone, I'm waiting on the insurance adjuster to call back about my hitting the deer last night. My back and shoulders are sore today, guess I had tensed up bracing myself for the impact.

I'm still proud of myself for refusing the cake and ice cream at MIL's b-day party last night. Although, the scale wasn't kind this morning. I'm doing everything right so I know this weight will come off. I think I tend to have big water weight fluctuations.

DH's b-day party will be this coming weekend, so I hope I can stay strong and stay on plan.

I'm proud of you too lily!:hug: Just want to quickly tell you that I hit one deer in my life-at about 55mph-in my brand new at the time Chevy Malibu . . . was not hurt either but devastated about my car so took the next nite OFF work. Spent the next day & entire evening with my Mom instead of going into work as usual in my driveable but slightly wrecked car - the following afternoon Mom died . . . sounds weird, but I've always thought God sent that deer out of the ditchline crashing into my car, ya know?

Certainly not saying anything like that will happen!!!!!! Just hitting deers reminded of my experience!

I got a pair of those "deer whistles" firmly attached (like $5 bucks at AutoZone) ever since - haven't hit one since! (And on my county road commute - I see literal HERDS!)

Invited everyone to come Chat so now completely out of time - having soft scrambled eggs tonight - and LC yogurt - was the quickest and most pain free root canal EVAH!

Hope I stay pain free thru the shift . . . ttyal!:hug:

Hi Aud! Oh gosh anything pain that has to do with the mouth, I cannot handle! So bring on the painkillers! LOL!
I hope you won't suffer too much, plus you could drop at least a couple of pounds or more eating this way. That would be cool! Hang in there Aud!!:hug:

I was wondering if you were going to feel any soreness. :( It usually doesn't affect you until the next day. What a good feeling turning away the cake! That is an accomplishment! It's hard, but I'd rather suffer eating anything hc, than complain and worry about eating with possible lbs gained!

Hi everyone, my low-carb eating wasn't so good today. I ended up cooking some of the deer steak (from the deer that was given to me, LOL, not the roadkill). My carbs were definitely up today but overall calories were 1374, so maybe with my cardio. exercise I'll be OK. I'll do better tomorrow on my carbs, just had to have a little cheat and I really didn't eat much. (Hoping it won't cause cravings since I didn't eat any sugar).

I worked my butt off tonite unloading both my fridge and freezer and giving them a thorough cleaning. Once I got started, I realized how much work I had bit off, but it's done now.

AUD, it does sound like God sent that deer to give you some extra time with your mom. Hugs.

I thought I was sent a deer as payback for cutting up that deer on Friday that was given to me. LOL, my eating some deer tonite, was done in spite for having one wreck my car. The dang insurance adjustor still hasn't called back to tell me when he will be out to pay me so I can fix my car.

Aud-Thanks:thanks: for starting us up,even when you were in so much pain. Hope the dentist visit was OK.I hate:devil: root canals, happy that that all behind me,as I have a permanent bridge.WoW!! seeing herds of deer you must live deep in the woods or country.

Lily-:yikes: UGHH!! & OUCH!! Sorry:sorry: that you got hurt hitting the deer.Try to lay in the tub with some Epsom Salt in the bath water. Its a salt that help releases the muscles,and joints in the body.Ask the pharmacist about it. I'm sure that it water fluctuation that we get every day.it will come off again.Some times a little cheat is better than a big gigantic binge.

Ive incorporated a few "good" carbs into my diet. Last week was a bit too much for me. I just need to keep tabs on what will trigger the sugar monsters, and what is working and "ok" for me. So far so good. Everything has been whole grains (and not much of it) and fruit. Im feeling alot better than I was.

I didn't get discouraged and quit. Just got busy. I actually have some success to report. I was down 2 pounds at my Friday WI and I've kept if off through a less then perfect weekend. I just hope I keep losing!

On Saturday I bought three pounds of hamburger and made it into patties and grilled them all - even though I was the only home for dinner! My family thinks I'm crazy, but that's been breakfast the last few days. I just zap a cooked hamburger and add a little cheese. I figured I needed a little more fat so it helps with that too. On Sunday I grilled a whole bag of boneless chicken breasts for my daily lunch salad.

I'm kind of adjusting to an emptier next. Only one child at home and she's so busy I don't see that much of her. DH was out of town for the weekend. Expected back tonight. But that left me with two days to paint bedrooms (part of the emptier nest-we're moving the 15 year old down to the room her older brother just vacated). I'm not good at the empty nest thing though. I miss them! Last night I found myself cooking dinner and bringing it to the 15 y.o. and her older sister who was working- she hasn't lived at home in three years.

On Saturday, with the two pound loss fresh in mind, I went to the gym and then found myself driving down the street thinking about how good I felt. That's not my usual mode, but I want to remind myself of that feeling so I can use it when I'm tempted. It's not just the physical feeling, but the emotions too. And I think I need both exercise and diet to achieve that. I had been thinking (earlier in the week) that I had to get the toxins out of my body (from the weekend before) and on Saturday I felt like the toxins were gone and my body was busy using the good fuel I was providing to produce extra energy and well being. So for a while on Saturday, it all seemed so "worth it!" I have to hang onto that feeling if the scale gets stuck!! Thanks for listening.

Hi everyone, I'm feeling better today. The insurance adjustor just left and I can take my car to the repair shop tomorrow. I don't know how long I'll be without my car, but we do have an extra vehicle that I can use. Insurance is going to pay for me new brakes after me locking them up and making them smoke.

DH starts his week at home tonite. With him being gone every other week, I feel pretty darn single. Not really such a bad feeling. LOL. I guess I should feel guilty feeling this way, but I don't. I do have a few good reasons to have a man in my life. I've thought about this and here is what I came up with. LOL

1. kill spiders
2. haul off the trash
3. clean deer
4. the occasional need for sex

My Big Sis has a DH who works on a barge - 30 on/off - and sounds a lot like you lily. Lots of plusses and minusses to that wol.

Sort of suffered with toothie but made it thru the shift and now off to work again. Pain pills didn't help - made me sleepy instead - Advil has helped this new kind of pain the most.

Hiya lynnar!:hug: Glad you're hanging in there - I've done the same thing with burger & chickie . . . I steamed up a weeks worth of broccoli & cauli Sunday too.

Aud, oh your poor tooth. Man I hate having tooth pain, it's worse than having your woowoo in pain! I had an abscess in my vaginal area a few years ago and they had to prick it with a needle so it would drain. then they shoved a balloon type thing up there, and boy talk about pain. I can't compare it to childbirth of course, but I couldn't sit or sleep well for about 2 weeks. Then when the swelling went down, the balloon fell out! LOL
I know gross huh!! Just had to share that!
Aud, I hope your pain goes away soooooooon!!!!:D

Hey Lynnar, good for you with the 2 lb loss, count it all joy!!! You can do it, just do like you said. Remember how good if felt to see that 2lb drop on the scale! Hang in there! You'll make it!!! ;)

Another day On Plan! Y'know what I think this means? A genuine Zone...I actually feel different about it. I'll tell you something, there's been TWO times in my life where I stuck with a diet plan unrelentingly for a period of about 3 months, lost a good chunk of weight and kept it off and both of those times I had a feeling, a sort of impervious feeling. It's hard to describe, but I know that I had it then and that I have it again.

One of those times, I was 14, freshly off Prednisone and weighing 210 (I gained 30 pounds in a MONTH on Prednisone). I was DETERMINED to get the weight off, stuck to Suzanne Somers' plan and got the 30 pounds off in about 3-4 months (her plan makes it so carbs and proteins/fats can't be eaten together, so I basically ate NO carbs except for veggies and the occasional grapefruit--essentially Atkins ;)). I successfully kept those 30 pounds off, but stopped the diet and didn't lose anymore. The second time, I was 21, and 185 pounds. I transferred onto a college campus and decided to LOSE weight instead of gain it my first semester here and I dropped about 25 pounds in three months on Phase I of South Beach. I've maintained that loss, too. I have a pattern of these huge drops in a pretty short period of time, because during that time I'm ON FIRE.

I've been waffling the last year and a half, since I dropped those 25 pounds. Up and down with the scales, and never really sticking to anything. I finally am feeling the SAME way that I felt those other two times, and I'm SO excited about it because it translates into me losing these last 20 pounds and keeping them off! This is a huge mental turning point for me...I could say "I'm going to do it this time!" as many times as I wanted to, but until I FELT it, deep down in my bones, I never 100% believed myself. I know now that it's for real this time and I'm so happy inside :)

Sorry, this is getting kinda long and wordy. So, yes. On plan today, did weights yesterday and cardio kickboxing tonight! Tomorrow's plan is more great food, a trip to the gym to lift more weights and midterms!

:hug: I'm sorry to hear about your car, Lily, my boyfriend hit a deer about a month ago in his new Honda Civic SI. It completely crunched up the front drivers side of his car and the door. He was okay, thank God. He actually JUST got his car back from the body shop. I saw it this weekend and it looks as good as new. Even Brian (Mr. "It will never be the same again") said that he couldn't tell the difference from the outside.

Auddie! I'm sorry to hear your painless root canal is starting to be painful :hug: I hope it feels better soon! On another note, ladies, Auddie was this week's BIGGEST LOSER over at TBL challenge ;) 5 lbs this week!

I wanted to post this recipe here, I did it on JerseyGyrls Thanksgivng thread.

You have got to try this for Thanksgiving. I have made it 4 x already and it is fantastic!! It's a cross between a cheescake and a pumkin pie.

Believe me when I tell you, it is the bomb!!!!!!!!!

JODY'S PUMPKIN BAKE
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
5 eggs
1/2 cup granular Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
15 ounce can pumpkin
1/2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Put the cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and beat well. Pour into a 6x8" greased glass baking dish. Bake at 350 about 40 minutes or until the center feels firm and a knife inserted in the center comes out relatively clean. Cool, then chill before serving.

Makes 4-6 servings

With granular Splenda:
Per 1/4 Recipe: 342 Calories; 27g Fat; 14g Protein; 14g Carbohydrate; 5g Dietary Fiber; 9g Net Carbs
Per 1/6 Recipe: 228 Calories; 18g Fat; 9g Protein; 9g Carbohydrate; 3g Dietary Fiber; 6g Net Carbs

With liquid Splenda:
Per 1/4 Recipe: 330 Calories; 27g Fat; 14g Protein; 11g Carbohydrate; 5g Dietary Fiber; 6g Net Carbs
Per 1/6 Recipe: 220 Calories; 18g Fat; 9g Protein; 7g Carbohydrate; 3g Dietary Fiber; 4g Net Carbs

Just wanted to check in real fast. I've got tons of work waiting for me! I strayed a little last night, but only into the veggies. I took my 15 yo runner out to eat to celebrate her last home cross country meet. We ended up at a BBQ place after I eliminated Italian, Mexican and Chinese. I had already had my daily salad, but - even without DH nagging me - I couldn't leave all the sides. I only had salad and broccoli, but it blew my one serving of veggies for yesterday.

I can't tell if I'm in Ketosis or not most of the time. Sometimes I get the yucky taste in my mouth, but only once in a while. I don't want to go buy the sticks because in my past attempts, I had so much trouble making them change. And I just don't want to cut out my once a day salad! I have noticed I don't get as hungry as I used to, but I still get kind of hungry, so that's not much of a guide. so far I'm down about 8 pounds, but 6 pounds were the first week or so and probably lots of water. I hope I can add to the two pounds I dropped last week. Then I'll know I"m doing something right. My weigh in day is supposed to be Friday so maybe I can stay on plan until then and have a little whoosh.

Hi everyone, just a quick note. My DH just finished his shower and is rushing me to bed. Oh, what fun. LOL.

My car is in the shop now being fixed. Hope it comes out looking just like new (I just bought this car 2 months ago).

My eating wasn't on plan tonite. I cooked some deer meat and it was good. The home-made biscuits and gravy certainly wer'ent Atkins fare. I did decide not to blow off my exercise too. So, I walked 1.5 miles and still felt lazy . Then walked another mile while I watched that Inside Brookehaven Obesity Clinic show. (Nothin gets my butt to moving as good as watching something on obesity). It is my cure all for laziness.

Yesterday I singed up for 24 hour fitness I cant wait to get started. Im taking an ouqa arobics class tomarrow with my step mom. I've never taken one befor. Anyway I hadent ben on the site in a few days so I thought I would drop by. talk to you latter ladies

Early day at work thanks to DD's cross country practice. I should really take the opportunity to get some stuff caught up, but what fun is that? My early days always end up being my late days too!! so unfair!! But I had two short days earlier this week. Most of this is because of my driving her around! I remember how I disapproved of parents who bought their 16 yo's cars right away. Now I'm counting the days until she turns 16. In fact, I have to keep nagging her to driver some (she's had her learner's permit for months) so she'll be ready for her drivers test on her birthday. Not sure where we'll get a car for her but we'll figure out something. What will I do with my time when I no longer spend half my life driving kids? Kind of scares me....
So I've been good this week. Tomorrow is my WI day and I'm really hoping for good news. DH came home with a cold the other day, so DD and I are chugging Emergen-C (two carbs, but worth it if we don't get sick!). I'll BBL. Lynn

Hey Lily, yeah nothing like seeing what you used to look like to get yourself on track, huh! That's probably the best way to keep us in check. I always said that I hope I don't get up to 250, that was going to be my breaking point. Well when I started Atkins, I was at 243 and heading for that weight.
No offense to anyone who is that size and starting Atkins. I totally understand.

Hi Ladies:)

Wasn't feeling well yesterday morning.Had that stupid sore throat again, along with a fever.Didn't go to the doctor this time,as I don't want to take anymore antibiotics.

The sore throat is now subsiding,by taking throat smooth herbal tea.

Still have a slight sore throat,but this time I'm getting the sniffles with it. Looks like its heading into the common cold.

Meds that I taking,are pushing the numbers on the scale upward. ARGGGGGGG!!!and W-I in on Sat.Isn't it always 1 step forward 2 steps back.

I hope that I don't won't be sick all winter. I wished the Doctor a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas, the last time I saw him,as I told him I'm not coming back until next year. He laughed.

Fit.Thanks for the recipe it sound yummy will put it in my recipe folder.

Got up at 7 and had a big discussion with Leo over Breakfast how to save the world until 9 AM. Never solved the problems.

Kind of cold this morning had to put the fireplace on,and shut the window in the bedroom. Still not feeling well, so I'm going to stay home from our October fest luncheon at the senior center. Can't sing if you have a sore throat.

AUD-Sorry:sorry: that you still on the antibiotics.I couldn't wait to get off of them.They didn't effect my weight but they did kill the good bacteria along with the infection. I'm taking 2 gel tabs of All Floria[found in health store] 6 billion good bacteria once a day to build my my good bacteria in my digestion area. I'm not taking Cepacol sore throat lozenges which seem to be helping.

PUNCEZILLA-Glad:) to see you posting again, miss you. As long as your hanging in there, that ok. Going to make that pumpkins recipe myself over the weekend.

Today's my WI day and I lost one whole pound! Hate to celebrate too much with the way weight goes up and down, but it is something! I would probably have given up long ago, but I really think I'm losing, even if the scale doesn't show it. I even have on a pair of pants that aren't quite as painfully tight as they used to be. So I'll keep plugging.
Sorry to hear about sore throats and tooth problems. I'm still chugging Emergen-C because my DH is still sick. I'm very tempted to sleep in the guest room, but I think it may be too late. Gotta go get something done! Lynn

Good Morning Ladies:)


Its not going to be nice here,dark and dreary as its raining :rain: and its going to rain all day.My weight at W-I this morning stayed the samehave no idea or inkling why this is happening to me.Its not that I have little to lose, I have 23 to get off this bod of mine.

I exercise and eat the right foods,and yet nothing happens. I read on the biggest loser web site about electrolytes and water that aren't balancing,causes a maintain or stall. Does anyone know what thats about?????????


Sorry for whining :stress: as I can't make that stupid scale go down.


Fit-I still have the cold/sore throat,but that will pass. I'm feeling a lot better today,thanks:thanks: for asking. Have a great weekend,even if you can't use your :comp: computer.

I think we need to pause here and think about how there is a LOT to be said for the "staying the same" beachie & LC Buds!

It's good practice for when we become maintainers, right?

It's OH SO MUCH BETTER than GAINING, right?

It's a sure sign that SOMETHING we're doing is working, right?

Yep, LOSING feels better - but NOT gaining is good too for me.

Been super busy and super stressed. Haven't made time for ME and MY health . . . just give give give and it's never enough it seems for some of the folks I represent/work with. Tired ole cycle that I'm working desperately hard to break - Need to realize once and for all that when I don't make time for ME - I'm no good for anyone professionally OR personally, ya know?

"One day at a time" . . . I suppose.

Speaking of Sweet Jesus - my 10 yr old Tess sweetly asked if we could start going to Church regularly again! (Not sure if I shared that soon after Contract Ratification "they" announced all OverTime cancelled after 11/1?? w00h00!!!:carrot:) Just could not get on a schedule for Church working all those long hours and Sat. nites - so out of the mouth of babes! With sane hours hoping to actually have a LIFE again. Also look forward to the peace organized religion can bring.

How did YOUR week go gals? What's the Plan for the Weekend?

I'm doing the Amazing Clutter Clean-Up I do every Saturday . . . also brought home a TON of work from the office . . . I'm thinking Y & digging out my old Pilates dvd for tonight.

Also trying to remember to get my water in when at home.

AUD, You're totaly right about staying the same, not feeling as good as losing but WAY BETTER than gaining. I also like to think of it as practice for maintenance. Now try and have a nice relaxing weekend.:sklol:

BB, I'v never heard about electrolites affect on weight loss, I do know it's harder to lose if you're dehydrated. I'll have to do some reading on that.. I have to follow induction to the letter and drink all the recomended water in order to lose. Keep sticking with it , I'm sure you'll figure it out and start losing again. Hope you're feeling better soon!

It me again,I just got off the phone with my DD and she gave me some pointers for weight loss. She was 135 and she followed these 5 principal and lost 15 lbs she now 120.

1)Does the number on the scale really bother you? as long as your eating healthy.YES

2)Are you drinking enough water??YES
Recommended amount according to her doctor 64 oz.

3)Are you stressed out???YES Number one reason one doesn't lose weight.Take a bath, or walk to release that stress.

4)Are you a fast eater,YES drink tea or some kind of broth 15 mins before a meal. Body will think its full,and you will leave 1/2 whats on your plate[portion control]

5)Do you w-i every day??YESDon't weigh yourself every day,if it to stressful for you.

I'm thinking that 5 yeses to 5 questions is the reason I'm not losing. Going to listen:listen: to what my DD told me.

AUD-I know that staying the same is better than a gain,but I Maintained for over a month,it about time to move on downward.

Puncezilla-I have to read more on the subject also.I know about dehydrating effects the body but I heard that over drinking water can effect the electrolytes also.It washes away the nutrients out of the body.Thanks:thanks: for your well wishes.

Im not eating atkins lowcarb, but Im not bingeing, and eating fairly normally. This is a huge step for me! Its always been either ...Im on a diet, or Im not, and Im bingeing because I'll be on a diet "tomorrow" kwim? Very bad way to go about eating!!!!

I need to get back to low carb, but I am finding it hard to find that "magic" place that doesnt make me feel like crap. I can go 2 weeks low carb, then my system revolts and I feel so sick. Ive incorporated steel cut oats for breakfast, but need to have a lower carb day. Im getting there, and in my getting there, I am learning to eat like a normal person again.

Anyway, thats enough about me in my little corner of the world.....have a great day ladies!

Lurking, looking for some inspiration. Thanks to all of you. One thing in particular jumped out at me, something about how good you feel after a really good exercise session. Makes me want to go downstairs and spend a few minutes lifting weights in my basement. I have all the equipment I need in my downstairs room (which has become my daughter's bedroom). So I guess I'll go get started.

That IS huge robin!:carrot: "To eat like a normal person" - I can almost see the light at times, so I guess that's good, but a lifetime of bad habits on portion size and overeating is a tough thing to beat - lc'ing has reallyreally helped - esp. with the cravings. When I can see the glimpse of light, in my mind I'm an "intuitive eater" that only eats when hungry and only eats whole foods that are good for me. I'm making that a reality more often than not - but this change is a scary thing! LOL! All the best to you on your journey!

Had a dreadful exercise week this week sherry - and could really tell the difference with mood. Forced myself to get a good one in yesterday and then afterward was waaaay more productive and even keeled in mood. When I get at least walking in - I still feel good - but notice when I add working with weights - the weight loss really picks up!

FOUND my cloth measuring tape in the latest round of Clutter-A-Rama so was able to do my inches - I think I measured the same way (can't remember how I did the chest - boobs down or up!:?::dizzy:) Here's around Jan inches compared to yesterday:

Bust: 48 . . . . . 44
Waist: 45 . . . . . 40
Hips: 53 . . . . . . 47
R. Upper Arm: 14.5 . . . . . 12
R. Upper Leg: 25.5 . . . . . . 22

Good Morning Ladies:)

We're having a nippy morning,have to pull out some long sleeve blouses or maybe even cardigans to keep warm today.

I'm starting the new diet [5 factor]today and hope it works for the next 5 weeks. Its doesn't look to hard to follow. Its more or less like the beach[high fiber veggies & fruit,low GI carbs,lean protein & good fat.]The exercising part is a little leery as they mention cardio & strength training,for 25 mins 5 days a week.I have to watch and make sure I using the weights correctly,as I don't want to hurt myself.

Have to make that scale MOVE downward. I'm so frustrated doing every thing right and not finding any satisfaction on the scale.Low carbing right now is not working for me. Going to be on this new diet for 5 weeks and than I'll decide which plan I going to go on next.

Robin-I find the same thing happens to me when low carbs it works for a while and than I need my oatmeal & other grain carbs also.Good Luck :lucky: on whatever plan you go on.

SharryA-Welcome:welcome3: to the board & thread. The ladies here are very supportive and inspirational.

AUD-Congrats:cheers: on your NSV's your doing great on the shrinking inches. I haven't measured at all but I'm seeing that my black skirt is almost fitting me again.

Robin, Eating "normal" is good! I'm just like you mentioned, either on plan or binging. I hope you find a good ballance that keeps you losing and feeling good!:D

Sherry, Exercise is a great motivator for me, I always feel great after working out. And yet I always seem to put it of :dunno:or find an excuse to skip it. Hang in there.:hug:

Sorry I've been absent, ladies! Midterms ate me alive, and my craziness isn't over yet. I'll be a LOT more relaxed once my GREs are taken care of and my Grad. school applications are all mailed out...

So, I guess what I'm saying is, I'll be a lot more relaxed come January! :D

For now, I guess I'll have to do a lot more reading on 3FC than I do writing...but I promise I haven't disappeared. Even if I'm not posting here, I'm trying to post at my new Blog. So far, staying on plan has been working marvelously! I'm trying a new sweetener called "oligofructose"--it's ground chicory root fiber. The carbs in it is all fiber, at least that's what the label says. It hasn't stalled me yet, so we'll see. I tried that Pumpkin Bake recipe and it tastes JUST like pumpkin pie to me. I'll definitely be making that on Thanksgiving! Thanks for the recipe!

I posted a 2 pound loss for the week, which puts me back at 155. *whew!* If I can finish out November in the 140s at last, I can't tell you how happy I'll be! I'll throw a PARTY! Or something. Until next time, ladies, take care! :grouphug:
