Default Pickled Beets

My SIL cans stuff. She gave me a jar of pickled beets. They are to die for - I like beets anyway, but these taste like candy. So.....my question is how the heck many calories could be in these things? I looked up the commercial ones, and the calories aren't bad. I just can't believe these home done ones could be included in my eating plan. Any opinions? I would be using them like a condiment or garnish - not by the bowlful.

Oh yum I love pickled beets. I think the easiest way to know for sure would be to ask her how much sugar she uses in her recipe divided by how many cans she pickled. All the other ingredients are probably very low in calories.
