Default Muscles cramps the day after....Remedies

So yesterday I did a 2.5 mile walk/jog combo and today my legs hurt. I did do a slow walk yesterday for 10 mins the after the jog I did 10 mins of slow walking plus a stretch afterwards. And my muscle feel tight around the lower hip area down to my knees. My calves are fine. Is there something I should have done that I didn't to relieve the soreness or will it get better as I get used to it. I wanna (actually will) get out there again today. But because of the soreness I will probably just do a fast pace walk without the jogging.

I guess I am asking if the soreness will go away as I get used to this and is there any remedies for the right now on the soreness.

Is the walk/jog new? I don't think our bodies like change much. Yes, you'll get used to it. I have to do either a really long walk, hilly hiking or lots of jogging for it to effect my legs the next day nowadays.

New yes. I do the WATP dvds but apparently that does not compare to actually jogging/walking in real life. Yeah I think today I will walk the same distance just not do any jogging for a least today. Then see how my legs feel Wednesday. If they feel better I will do another walk/jog combo. If still overly sore Wednesday I'll walk again.

Hot stone massages!!! They're awesome because they retain heat. I bought a cheap little kit. Some of the stones are flat and wide enough sou I could lie on my back and put them on the tops of legs and inside of my arms. Or I can even lie on my tummy and place them on my back, one on my neck, and a few on my hamstrings and and one on the back of each knee. I love it!

Ha. Join a gym and avail yourself of the jacuzzi or sauna. I love, love, love to spend a few minutes lounging in the whirlpool after a long hard workout. It seems a fitting reward and I think it helps with stiffness, too. Failing that, a nice hot bath with epsom salts is a classic.

i find that a good soak in the tub helps. Also make sure if you do a hard workout...you stretch after the workout, then befor going to bed and then that morning..normally for me...the most sore part occurrs about 24 hrs after the workout. I also find the doing some exercise (maybe not a intense) helps get some of that lactic acid (the thing causing the soreness) to move around..and also drink lots of water the day of and after a hard workout...but yes the soreness will improve.
