Default Food cravings and LapBand

In what I have read so far, the RNY gastric bypass has an effect on actual food cravings which helps maintain weight loss. Does the LapBand effect cravings also.
Do people gain weight back after a lapband proceedure?

Arrowgirl, you can gain weight regardless of what surgery you have. I can't speak for cravings after RNY but I can speak for lapband cravings. The band works around your tummy, not your brain so you feel just like you did before surgery. I crave everything I did before surgery, only difference is I can't eat as much. Hope this helps.

speaking from experience - the cravings DO go away with the bypass. but they come back!!!!!! oh, it takes some time, of course, like more than 2 years [for me], but they DO come back!!!!

My craving went away. It will be 2 years in Ocober. But they are coming back with a vengence !!! One good thing though. I loved bread of any kind before. My stomach still can't handle that. Or any kind of pasta and very little potatoes. I still can't handle anything really sweet...but ohhhhh...Lord help me....I love oatmeal and raisin cookies. And I can eat a bite or two of chocolate. I'm really having to work harder now.

I am a month and a half post op RNY and I have thoughts of things that sound good (former food) but not like I use to have! One bite and it does go away because it makes me so sick, I never want it again. Perhaps this is just me. I have never been a sweet eater, so can't say anything about that, but carbs were and have been my downfall. I'm still at the three bites stage and that's all I can eat and I must wait thirty minutes afterwards for any liquid. I'm loving myself now though so it's all worth it.

Blessings.

I am almost a year out and I don't really get any random cravings but there are times where if I see something I want it. Especially with picnic season still upon us. I musta looked really weird eating my one teaspoonful of everything because I didn't want to miss a single taste of all my favorites. Luckily having a two year old has its advantages and I can share my plate with him.
