Does anyone else have a set cut off time for night snacks? I set my for 9pm. If I am hungry at 9pm or later I don't eat a snack. If it gets to bad past that hour I just go to bed. If at 8pm I get the feeling of being hungry I try to get the kids in bed earlier (8:30pm) so I can get a quick snack in before 9. Does any one else have a cut off time. If so what time is your cut off time.
I never eat after dinner, which means around 6:30pm. I just don't do it. I know that if I start snacking after dinner, it becomes too easy to "just have one more piece!" Now that I'm used to not eating after dinner, I don't crave it. When it's not even an option in your mind, you just don't think about it!
I'm the same in the fact that I pretty much only eat at mealtimes. If i'm hungry in the day I'll put it off for an hour; if I'm still hungry an hour later I'll have some protein. I never eat after dinner - if I'm peckish I'll get a mug of tea instead
I don't really, unless it's the night before my weigh-in. I try to eat dinner before 7, and usually have a snack between 7-9. If I am hungry after 10 or so, I just wait to eat the next day
Nope, if I'm really hungry, I eat something. I tend to eat dinner fairly late, so it's rarely an issue. My normal after dinner snacks are:
Smartpop 100 calorie kettle corn
1 50 calorie whole wheat tortilla heated with 1 tbs of pumpkin butter smeared on it
Handful of dried granny smith apple rings
Cup of frozen dark cherries (or frozen mango)
1/2 cup of roasted butter nut squash with 1 tbs of pumpkin butter stirred in
There was a recent study that showed that it was total amount of calories per day, not when the calories were consumed that seems to matter. As long as I'm within my calories for the day, I eat something. Actually, if I were really hungry and I was at/over calories for the day, I would probably still eat something small - I don't like to be hungry.
I don't have a cut off point....I naturally do not like to eat after I am in bed...just too lazy/tired to want to deal with it. I sometimes have a weight watchers ice-cream pop (70 calories) as late as 9:30, but after that I'm usually pretty turned off at the thought of eating. I don't have any rule, I guess because I don't have a problem with it.
No cut off point for me either. I eat between 7 and 8 pm on most days, so normally I don't need any snack, and anyway I just can't be bothered. I admit I've been tempted by late-studying snacks, but anyways, since I can't study past 11 pm any more, I moved that to "extra-early study sessions at 6 am", and then this end in breakfast, so I'm covered.
I don't normally eat after dinner. I don't really have a set cut off time, but I'm usually not hungry between dinner and bedtime. We usually eat around 6pm-6:30pm-ish and I'm in bed at 10pm during the week, so it's not an issue. If I want something sweet after dinner I might have a bit of dark chocolate, but that's usually right after dinner.
I always save some calories for a before bed snack. I don't have any strict rule. I've even woken up very hungry at night and had a small snack. I try to stay within my calorie limit each day but if I go over by a small amt. occasionally it won't hurt my progress. I, also, can't stand to be Hungry.
I have acid reflux, so dinner is pretty much it for me. I give myself 2-3 hours minimum without food before bed, which means dinner falls around 6-7 hour, rarely later. I used to be really bad about late night snacking, so I guess the silver lining to having reflux is that my unnecessary late night snacking (and believe me, it was never hunger related-it was snacking from boredom/anger/other emotions) has pretty much stopped.
