Default Bad day!

I'm having a bad day! My company had some people laid off last Friday and now the atmosphere in the office is very Blah. I just want to go and burry my head in the sand... or pizza, or ice-cream, or mashed potatoes...

Hey ninav,

I know what you mean. I've been through layoffs in the past. But no matter what happens, it doesn't mean that we "get" to eat! Think about it... won't it just make you feel worse if you go off the rails? I don't mean a little, I mean "bury your head in ice cream."

Food isn't a drug, although it can be used that way. I know--I've used it to feel better myself in the past. I try not to do that now.

Find some other way to feel better! Call a friend and talk! Rent a good, uplifting movie (and plan some HEALTHY, low cal snacks)! Go for a walk or a drive somewhere pretty. Get yourself something new--or new to you. Visit a used bookstore. There are many ways to help change your mood!

I will make sure not to let all this craziness drive me to overeat. It's still hard sometimes not to have that emotional crutch for support. Instead I come here for a virtual hug.

Oh gosh I'm sorry to hear that you've had a bad day. Those aren't fun.

It IS hard Nina not to use food as a crutch. But the more you get used to NOT using food in that manner, the easier it gets the next time another bad day crops up. And who are we kidding - bad days are always going to pop up . Just think how much worse that bad day would feel had you eaten all that nasty food.

My new crutch is exercise .... and shopping. I love Jays idea of renting an uplifting movie. I think I will tuck that one in the back of my head.

Hang in there Nina. This too shall pass.
