I went to the AIDS benefit drag show last night, and it just so happened they had a guest performance by a local burlesque girl, and by 'burlesque girl' I mean a girl who I guess was a star pupil of the burlesque dance studio and was up for strutting her stuff on stage. And while I was watching, I was really, really, really impressed. She was happy, confident, and just looked like she was having a great time strutting her stuff. And I thought to myself 'You know, I could probably do that.' I don't know if I would necessarily be wanting to disrobe in front of a bunch of rowdy drag queens (though the idea does have it's appeal
) but I think it would be a really neat thing to know how to do, and looks like it requires some major muscle tone, endurance and poise, which as far as I'm concerened are all good things.
Before I jump in head first though, I was wondering if anyone hear did any similar 'excercise,' and if so, how do they enjoy it? I imagine it's not as easy as it looks, but is it terribly hard to learn? Do you have to be extremely flexible?
I asked some of the burlesque students at the info booth they had set up and they were all really enthusiastic about it, but there teacher was right there, nodding and smiling, so I wasn't sure if they were being completely honest.
What are your opinions?
