Well, we now officially have real winter! :) The Girls barked up a storm at four when neighbour Ralph started up his big truck. (He does roadwork for the township and "got the call" last night, I guess.) We are having a real snowstorm :cb: and it's 21F out there. The kitchen and back room are cold this morning - 45F - so I've put on the electric heater and wore my coat over my robe to get breakfast. Brrrr! Luckily, I don't need to go anywhere today so the Girls and I can get the woodstove going and just hang out.
I had a very wonderful birthday and didn't overindulge in anything except laughing. Some of my friends are a hoot and my tummy muscles are a tad sore this morning. I guess I can count that as exercise, right?
The sorting and pitching of the Christmas stuff continues today. I'll be outside doing a bit of shovelling later when the snow dump stops. I may throw something that smells great into the crockpot and have a cozy day!
What's going on at your house? Come and chat a bit. :cofdate:
01-15-2007, 06:14 AM
Thanks Schatzi! I don't feel any lighter yet, but I know it's working at least.
It's stinking hot here, girls, you can have a bit of my summer if I can have a bit of your winter! I can't get any relief from the relentless heat:flame:
01-15-2007, 06:52 AM
Stumbleine, 11 pounds is terrific! Maybe the heat is sweating it off. Are you in North or South Oz?
01-15-2007, 08:02 AM
Morning all.....it's rainy here, but they expect a winter snow storm later today. I work early & I have interviews & some MAJOR cleaning to do. Schatzi sis did get married & Mike & I are heading to Vegas - the big day is June 27. I just sent the save the dates last week. Dad is ok...he still acts strange & my grandma who just retired this year (at the age of 80) is cleaning is house for him.
Well I'm off to work!!!
01-15-2007, 08:09 AM
Good Monday Morning, Chickies!
And a very HAPPY albeit late, BIRTHDAY TO RUTH!! I hope it was wonderful!
Schatzi: Have fun with the swiffer. I need to do the same, but it will have to wait until tonight! Your meeting with the house planner should be interesting--hope you get some great ideas!
Ruth: Goodness, sounds like you're getting winter at last! We're chilly too, but I think we're in the high 20s this morning. You and the girls have a great day relaxing by the wood stove...give those tummy muscles a rest.
stumbleine: Sorry it's so hot up there, but I have to decline your offer for weather swapping. I'm enjoying my first real Alpine winter. I know what you mean about not feeling lighter. It'll come. You just have to keep it up!! :D
ME: Busy day ahead of me as we're interviewing applicants today (ALL DAY!!) Plus, I've decided that I'm going to go straight from work to the track on MWF for an hour, so I've got that tonight. I also have my support group meetings on Tuesdays, so that means the only evening I'll be home right after work is on Thursday. DH is a little miffed because he's going to have to pick up the cooking slack, but he understands why I'm doing it. I'm going to try and start doing more in the crock pot and making casseroles the night before so he doesn't have to do so much.
WOW! I need to go get ready for work! Hope everyone has a beachin' day and I'll try and stop back by today sometime!!
01-15-2007, 09:10 AM
We have 6 inches of snow so far and it's still coming down! Bruce just showed up to plow me out. He did it for me the past few winters but said last spring it just wasn't worth his while with gas prices high. I guess he changed his mind! :carrot: I'll go out a bit later - when it stops - and clear the walks and decks. Great exercise and it blows out the cobwebs! The temps have dropped to 10F since I got up!
01-15-2007, 09:23 AM
Happy Monday everyone - the trains were dead this morning thanks to MLK day. It was sort of nice, but I think I'd still rather be at home sleeping! My weigh in was this morning - 5 more pounds down on week 2 of P1, bringing me to 10 pounds total. I'm halfway to my Valentine's Day goal! Very excited. And I'm starting at the gym tonight. Random quick question, but for those of you who go, do you do your cardio before your weights or vice versa? I've heard arguments for both.
01-15-2007, 09:27 AM
Ruth So glad to hear that you enjoyed your special day. :) You sound like you have the perfect day planned of chilling at home.
Soon Have you gone shopping for wedding dresses yet? I was happy to hear that things worked out for your sister's wedding- I know that was a lot of stress for you!!
Schatzi Wow- I would have NO idea where to start in the house department. That must be exciting yet scary all at the same time!
Kim Good for you for making a plan! I am hoping to join a gym this summer when we free up a bit of money. That way I could go after school and take the girls with me since I am the "single" yet married mom. My husband's schedule makes him useless in helping cover the girls. That is another story for another day though........ I just pray we survive this stage of marriage.
Stumebline Morning!! Where is it that you live?
Me- Home and cozy- the roads are super icy here, so I am hoping that with a little sunshine things will melt by this afternoon. We are planning on dinner at my mom's and I would really like to still be able to go. On tap for today is some cleaning! One of my least favorites, but the fact that the house was totally cleaned two weeks ago makes it a little less work.
TOM hit me hard this morning, I feel bloated and gross. It better not jack up my WI tomorrow at school!!
Has anyone heard from Barb this weekend? She hasn't posted in a few days, although I know she is a busy woman!
01-15-2007, 09:28 AM
Jenny Awesome loss so far!!! Back in the day when I did work out some, I always did cardio first.
01-15-2007, 09:58 AM
:woo: Happy ...belated Birthday, Ruth :woo:
Once again, it's become clear winter has finally arrived. There is a 70% chance of snow today. So I might cancel the clothes shooping and picture taking I had planned. But I have tons of stuff to do around here. Maybe the laundry room won't be so busy this morning and I can get a few loads in.
OP wise things are going well. I made BBQ pulled pork last night in the crockpot and it was so good. I can't wait to have leftovers for lunch. :D I am looking forward to start working out again. I felt so icky last week I only went once. I think I have an official WI at Curves on Thursday. Hopefully the numbers will be good.
Sorry if there are any Seattle fans here but... GO BEARS!
I've gotta scoot...before all the washers are taken!
Have a great day everyone.
01-15-2007, 10:09 AM
Well, the snow is falling in Alpine! Our first interviewee has yet to show and I'm concerned the weather might have something to do with that. They're predicting 4 - 8 inches between today and tomorrow, which is a lot for this South Texas girl to handle! I think it's going to take a while to get used to this Alpinian weather.
I forgot to update everyone on my friend in the hospital. She is still there, but in a lot less pain due to her meds. The doc's have decided to put a filter in her leg in case the clot dislodges and to give her plasma to thicken her blood in hopes that it will slow or stop the internal bleeding. I'm still a little worried about her, but feel better because my parents have been going to see her.
Ruth: I don't know how you could stand to work outside in that cold! I guess that's what separates the women from the WOMEN!!
Jenny: WTG on the loss! That's great!! I do my cardio first. I've also heard arguments for both ways, but cardio is more important to me, so I'd rather do it fresh than do my weights and feel sore while walking, biking, etc. I think it's all personal preference and what you feel works best for you!
Kiko: You and DH will get through it, I'm sure you will. I guess we all doubt the strength of our mariages at some point, but somehow, we get through!! Sending you (((hugs)))! I hope the roads clear up so that you can enjoy your dinner w/ mom!
anna: Hope you get a washer!! I'm glad you're looking forward to working out again! I don't feel right if I don't get some kind of workout in!!
Have a great day!
01-15-2007, 11:27 AM
Helloo, everybuddeeee (sorry, too much Grover the past couple of days). It's downright cold here today. I'm not sure if the weather man said the windchill was 7º or -7º, but brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Didn't really have too much trouble on the roads, but saw several smaller cars stuck in drifts. Times like this, I'm thankful for my heavy minivan. If the office would warm up a bit, things would be good...it's barely 70º and I've had goose bumps all morning.
Been having some weird pains in my neck and back since falling down the drivewy Friday morning, but they're really noticable today. I think I might have given myself whiplash. You'd think I was accident prone or something!
Last night, I made balsamic salmon for dinner and will have leftovers for lunch. Can't decide if I want to eat it warm or cold on my salad. Hmmmmm...the tough decisions I have to make today. ;)
Oh, and I'm moving to Phase 2 on Wednesday. Yay!!!
01-15-2007, 12:41 PM
KIM Thanks for your laundry well wishes...they worked! I was the only person washing clothes at 9 in the morning and did all 5 loads at once...I'm done!! :D
JENNY WTG on the loss! Keep it up :carrot:
SOON Congrats on setting a date!! Have you been dress shopping yet?
The weather here has taken a turn for the worse...I'm glad I got off my patootie and went grocery shopping yesterday.
01-15-2007, 12:56 PM
Good morning. :coffee: We have been frozen here for a few days, it is very cold for our area (in the 20's and 30's.)
I am having to keep track of my foods as I am not eating enough. This always happens after a few days of detoxing then I just don't want food at all.
I did good yesterday 2 NSV: :cp: First one was in the store when I did not buy those cookies that looked so good. Then later I wanted mexican food and I resisted because the only place open when I close my restaurant is fast food. Will have a taco salad today and take care of that craving. :bravo:
Well, I had a great trip. Then I got home to a bipolar meltdown for my dil, my mil is acting out (better this morning), just way too much stress for just coming home from a vacation time. :stress: :stress: :stress: :stress:
Will try to keep up with the posts now that I am home. The nieces computer was down so could not check in like I thought I could.
01-15-2007, 12:59 PM
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTH!
Oh how I miss snow!! When I lived in Pa. I remember getting quite a bit of it and also when we lived in Germany but where I live now ....in MD we're lucky to get it once or twice sometime after Christmas!!!
Well, it's nice to be back to the beach! I miss chatting with you ladies! I have to run for now...I've got little ones to lay down for a nap! Have a great day girls!:)
01-15-2007, 01:01 PM
Well, the lane has filled in again so I've decided to go for a nap instead of shovelling. Bruce will be back to do it again as soon as the snow stops. I had to shovel a drift away from theh deck door so the girls could go out! Oy!
01-15-2007, 02:02 PM
Okay, this is only the 3rd time I've tried to post today! Each time I get interrrupted. I'm here at home today, but with 3 littles ones and a 4th to show up sometime this afternoon. Monica called late last night asking if I could keep Carley a few days, as she just found out she could go along with her DH who had been invited to play at the governor's inaugaural today and tomorrow. They dropped her off early this morning on their way to Harrisburg, and Audrey & Maggie are also here because of MLK Day. When Amber found out that everyone is here, she asked to come over, too, so her other grandmother is bringing her soon. It's been pretty chaotic, but I have Carley down for her nap now, and the others are watching a movie and having some quiet time.
On the weight loss issue, Mr. Evil Scale is being awful today. I expected to see a big loss, and the scale isn't budging! I don't know what's going on, as I've been so careful. I'm digging in my heels, though, and not giving up!
Schatzi ~ The way I feel right now, I should have made that cake and eaten the entire thing, for all the good it did! I'm going to re-examine my diet and find out just where I'm going wrong. That should be fun today, checking out house plans. Are you going to plan in a special crafts room for yourself?
Ruth ~ Enjoy all that snow, but do be careful in it. Thank goodness Bruce had a change of heart and came to help dig you out! We may get snow later in the week, it will be the first for us this winter, too!
Kim ~ I'm glad there's better news on your friend, I was going to ask you about her. I'll continue to say a prayer for her.
Kiko ~ Enjoy your day off with your little ones. I hope the roads improve so you can get out to your mother's for dinner later. I can take almost any kind of weather except ice! I'm terrified to drive in it! I'm wondering where Barb's been, too. She'll probably pop in here before too long.
Gotta run for now. Hi! to everyone else! I don't have time to post to all right now!
01-15-2007, 02:10 PM
I know this is not the main idea of the thread -- but I just had to whine a little bit. We moved here 3 years ago -- and nothing! :?:
We may get a little sleet tonight, but down here maybe means not. I've lived in Chicago, Muscatine Iowa, northern New Jersey, and Dover DE ----- and I want winter!
I'm almost done with Phase one, but I don't think I'm ready to give it up yet. At the end of this week I should start phase 2, but maybe just a little bit. I am enjoying looking at the scale right now.:D
Hope all you snowbirds have fun. Go tobogganing for me, and I hope you do not lose your power!
01-15-2007, 02:39 PM
Good Day Everyone...
I tried to make little notes to each of you but this ol' lady can't remember where she laid her purse let alone all your names, places you go, errands you run, etc...
I do remember seeing a few of you have SNOW just like we do here in the PNW. We have sunshine but it's too cold to melt the snow. They are predicting another snow storm tonight! DH and I are going to brave the roads to stock up again before the next storm.
I also remember to pray for recovery for a friend.
A nice weight loss :cp: among you this fine Monday. Concrats to all!:carrot:
A few are at a temporary stand-still...it will come off in a bigger chunk so don't :stress: sweat it. As long as we keep OP:eating2: and do our excercises :tread: it has no choice but to come off...so don't lose heart.
I get to weigh-in on Tuesday so I will post my up or down tomorrow. I pray my three days off did not cause me to gain back what I worked so hard to get off.
Sis, I sure love you!
01-15-2007, 03:39 PM
I'm in Sydney, so the southern end of Australia. Summer's been fairly mild until about a week ago, BOOM! It's been stinkin' hot ever since.
I'm not someone who handles the heat well...a bit funny since we're getting married in sweltering Fiji in 7 weeks! :hyper: I'd better get used to it!
01-15-2007, 03:56 PM
A quick check in while the little one naps. She wears herself out trying to keep up after her big sister. :) They are too funny and at an age where they play together quite a bit.
Cottage Sorry that the scale isn't being your friend. I hate it when you are doing all the right things and it isn't cooperating. Sounds like your house will be pretty loud after nap time!
Ruth I am proud of you for choosing the nap- you don't slow down for those too often.
After not getting in my 10,00 steps yesterday, I decided to actually exercise today! What a concept. :) It certainly improved my mood as did scrubbing some baseboards, dusting, and vacuuming the house. It will be nice to start my 4 day work week with a clean house. We also went for a quick Home Depot trip and the roads seem to be just fine. I am glad we will get to enjoy a visit with my mom. My dad is cooking, so I am hoping that I can eat it. My mom is doing WW, so I will cross my fingers. :chef:
01-15-2007, 04:16 PM
Am I allowed to join in here? I'd really love a place to chat and people to chat with. Of course, I completely understand if you're a well-established group already and don't really want newbies joining in.
I've just started week II of phase I, lost 6 pounds...
01-15-2007, 04:17 PM
Hello Chicks, My son is home for MLK birthday so we're having kind of a lazy day.
I did go for my walk the am and my son rode his bike part of the way with me. It's still cold here but not quite as cold.
I seem to be stuck on a weight loss of 3 lbs. Hope to lose 2 more this week.
Have a great day everyone.
01-15-2007, 04:37 PM
Whew! That nap sure felt good. Bruce just came back and ploughed me out again. I can now get out of the lane - until the plow comes by and blocks me in again! You gotta love this climate! I'm willing to send anybody snow if they'll pay the shipping.
Hey, Ridiculously Addicted, we certainly are not a well established group - just a bunch of Beachers who like to gab so join right in! Take a boo at our join dates. I think I'm the most antique.
01-15-2007, 04:43 PM
Ruth, you may have been here longest, but you are certainly NOT antique! :snooty: You are fabulous!!!!!!!!! :flame:
Shelby, you are DEFINITELY welcome here!!! EVERYONE in the FCOTB forum is welcome to post in the daily...it's one of the best ways to get to know everyone personally!!! :D So, :welcome3: and post away...we can't wait to get to know you better!
We had an ice storm here...the trees are all bent down with ice. Blech! I decided to skip the grocery store and stay in, making the minestrone soup I had planned for a night last week but didn't get to. Sounds good...so does staying indoors! ;)
Have a great evening, everyone, and stay safe and warm!
Bionic Beach Babe

Good Afternoon Everyone..:dizzy: Ruth: Happy Belated Birthday...
Yesterday and so far today have made me dizzy with too much going on...
Yesterday after breakfast guest all left and mess cleaned up it was pass 11:30 then had to make a salad and get to a luncheon by noon. The luncheon was also a very long Ladies Ministry Meeting,3 1/2 hours is way too long. Why do some women want to discuss 10-15 projects instead of zeroing in on 1or 2...and doing them well...then stopped at Morning Star's place, helped (mostly watched her on the computer) and rested a bit there...got home from this too busy day around 4...then dinner etc...
Today was a rough day at Water class...Hip, leg and back all in spasm...I think I am pushing it too much...then had to get with one of my daughters to practice for Venting program we are giving tonight....My daughter is much better at throwing her voice than I, so I hope she will take the lead tonight...Now I am helping DH put up a large shade...
Girls I am just plain tired!!! Not a good feeling...but if you knew me like sis does...I keep pushing my self...:carrot:
Oh nice thing...I lost another 3 lbs!!! only happy thing today. No water class until tomorrow night...Hope I can really rest later tonight and tomorrow...all day I hope....
Bless you all for posting...I enjoy reading them...
Where is the oz?
01-15-2007, 04:52 PM
Hi Laurie!! Glad to see you in here today. :) I had a warm bowl of soup for lunch in this cold weather and it was perfect. :chef:
Stay warm!! :snowglo:
01-15-2007, 07:38 PM
Kiko - I have been swamped! I still haven't finished reading the rest of the posts but I wanted to pop in and say I'm still alive - before I get pulled away to finish dinner. I'm trying to work from home today due to the ice and Brian is home for MLK day but he needs to finish a rough draft of his paper for the REACH program and it has been like pulling teeth. I think this is a little much to ask of a 9 year old and DH has just not been very efficient at helping him. Now he just needs his conclusion. It might have been a little easier if I had known more about the topic - the past, present and future of loudspeakers. Yuck!
I've been swamped all weekend too. I had a District Committee meeting Saturday morning and then the scouts went to an activity badge workshop on Scientist taught by a boy scout troop in the afternoon. Then we tried to grab some groceries. The store didn't have any bananas or several other things I wanted. Everyone was buying like we would be iced in all week! Sunday, we skipped church due to the threat of ice and I spent all day working with Brian on the past and future parts of his outline. We did make it to the Pinewood Derby workshop yesterday just long enough to weigh his car. In between everything else, we've been painting the car. Today he did the present section(finally). I have GOT to make it in to the office tomorrow and then I have a troop guide meeting tomorrow night.
Now, I'll try to read the rest of the posts.
01-15-2007, 07:51 PM
Anna-my husband and his dad are big bear fans too.
Jetsetter-hope your neck and back recover soon. That must have been a terrible fall.
01-15-2007, 08:10 PM
Ruth - Happy Birthday! I never did get time to wish you a happy birthday. I am so glad my birthday cake is gone.
Brian is finally done with his rough outline and is watching TV while eating dinner. He still needs to do his reading, study spelling, take a shower and clean up his room from where he got upset earlier today and trashed it. There was definitely too much stress today. I'll be relieved to get back to normal in the office tomorrow. Kiko, I'm glad the roads are fine now since I'll have that drive to NW Plano tomorrow morning. I have not managed to make it to the gym lately and I'm missing it but there is literally no time unless I give up sleep and I can't afford to do that.
I need to figure out what to do about a projector for the leadership training in two weeks. They moved it to overlap our pack meeting so I can't use the one our Pack has. I started pricing DLP's but they are all about $600 or more. I'm going to have to decide if I should buy one or not. That's a lot to spend to teach leadership training but it is something I would use. Tough decision.
Rebel - I'm still trying to get caught up with reading the July list too. I hate being this far behind in things.
01-15-2007, 09:14 PM
Hello....the weather wasn't too bad today, a few slick spots on the way in, but nothing too bad. Tomorrow is suppose to be worse, but I'm off so I don't have to go out in it.
No, I have not officially went dress shopping yet. I have looked at dresses online, but I'm giving myself until March to lose some of this awful weight before I decided to squeeze myself into a WHITE (black is so more slimming) dress & you know the dress size will be a difference of like 4 sizes of what I actually wear. I'm not looking forward to dress shopping. The good news, I'm down a total of 10 lbs so far . Only 55 lbs to go & I haven't started exercising yet. I was going to wait until I hit Phase 2.
We have decided to stay at the Luxor & that the wedding will be at the Little White Chapel. We'll probably book our flights later this week. Oh and we are going out to dinner at the Ellis Island Casino & Resturant after the ceremony. That's all the planing I've done.
Well I'm off to do some reading, take care!
