Question How to assign words to a link

Okay I'm gonna try not to confuse anyone... you know how you can paste in a web address into your post? Well, some people are not just putting the web address...they are assigning it to words, how do you do that?

Example: in the Lighten up board, there is a post that talk about almost peed themselves from a funny commercial...then instead of a url, it says "here it is" and those words are blue and underlined - a link. So how do you assign "here it is" to appear instead of the url?

Go about half way down this page and you'll find the directions to do it manually

An easier way is to drag and highlight the word you want to link, then click the icon at the top of the posting box that looks like a little world with a chain link under it. You can then type or paste a url in there.

Good question! It's actually very easy once you know how: when you click on the Link icon and fill in the URL in the box and click okay, it adds something like this into your message box:
Quote:
[ URL = " http://thisisnotareal.link " ] http://thisisnotareal.link [ / URL ]
(without the spaces) The blue part will actually be highlighted in blue and if you simply type right there what you want the label to say, it will replace that highlight part and will print what you typed instead of the URL.

Another way to do it is to Select some text you have already typed into the message, click on the Link icon, fill in the URL, click okay and the selected text will appear as the label. Slick, eh?

Hope that's clear -- it seems really convoluted, but it's much easier done than described!
