Default new to the beach, still totally untanned

I've been lurking on several SBD sites, but love this one because of the great weight trackers! Also you seen like a great bunch of girls.

I haven't started the diet yet. This Thursday I'm going to Chicago to a huge quilt show and staying two nights. Then on Sunday we are celebrating the 19th birthday for our daughter. Then Monday my husband leaves for business travel, so I thought that day would be a good day to start. That way I can get the first two weeks done before he comes home.

To tell you a bit about myself: I turned 50 last August the same week that our daughter left for college that was a rough time. And in June I herniated a disc in my back that I'm still recovering from. That is the reason for part of the weight gain. I love to read, quilt, take our golden retriever for walks on the nearby farms, and to travel.

Is there any way to set up diet buddies on this site? I'd love to get one.

I'm looking forward to all of the help from this board.

I hope the weather is improving for you so you can get out and do more walking... I'm so sorry about your back.

Welcome, Sequoia! Sounds like great planning for your start date. Make sure to read the book, check out the FAQs, and stock your house with plenty of OP food while getting rid of all the off plan stuff in your house. It will set you up for success!

Thanks for all of the welcomes!!! Beachgal, unfortunately I have been busy getting rid of all the bad food in the house (only two beers left, cookies almost gone,.....). Hopefully I won't gain weight getting ready for the diet!!!!

I did check out the book and also the cookbook from the library, and have read both. And I've printed out 16 pages of recipies from the internet- so I am ready!

Today I was grocery shopping, mainly to get food for husband and son while I am gone this weekend. But I also starting stocking up on good food. I noticed a lady with some of the same items in her cart, so I asked her if she was on the SBD. She said that she was, two months, two sizes now. So we had a great time chatting about various foods. I told her about this great site and gave her the address. Makes me curious how many people are on this diet. I got interested in it initially because I noticed how great one of my son't teachers looked during conferences. So she's the one that told me about this diet and then I started to look for info on-line. She had lost a ton of weight and said that it was such an easy diet to follow.
