Default Does anyone have access to the Cooking Light Web site?

I can't find a recipe from them that I used to have, and I know it's on the Web site, but I can't access it because I don't subscribe. I guess buying the magazines at the store isn't good enough!

Anyway, if anyone *does* subscribe, would it be possible for you to find a recipe for me? I want to see if I can adapt it to the SB diet.

It's the "Brazilan Fish Stew" you can access by clicking here.

I can get to that point, but when I click the link, it wants me to log in before I can get the recipe itself.

I have access, but when I try to click the link to the recipe, it tells me that it's no longer available. I then went down the menu (fish.. stews..) and it wasn't listed. I guess they have removed it from the site, but failed to remove it from their search index.

Nope, that's not it. I googled it, too, before I posted this. I found similiar recipes, but not the one from Cooking Light. I remember it had coconut milk in it.

Ruth is right that it is no longer available on their website. It was found in the Sept 2001 issue if anybody has it at home (I'll look here). But you CAN access their recipe search, etc by signing in at the top of their home page. You can enter either your subscription home address, or the news stand buyers code (which is found inside the magazine on the publisher's page). Also AOL members can use the keyword Cooking Light.

I am sure I have Sept. 2001...I'll check at home, Abadoozy.

I haven't tried it recently, but I believe that you can register for free and see the recipes even if you don't subscribe or buy the magazine. Would someone want to try it and let us know? I LOVE Cooking Light and promote it all the time on here...don't want to be giving the wrong info!

Yes, you can do that. Unfortunately, it's only for a few weeks or a month or something. I did it before Christmas, and then when I tried again they told me "pay up or get lost."

That one is similiar, but still not quite the same.

Hmmm... September 2001. I wonder if my library might have it? Unless, of course, beachgal can find it and post the recipe!

It's really good, if anyone likes fish soup kinds of things. And yeah, I'm hoping it's more or less beach friendly.

Ah, I see. That's a shame! There is a code that is published in each issue that gives you access. Of course, I never have my magazine at work with me when I'm online, and I'm sure others have the same problem. I just got a subscription for my boss for Christmas, and it was only $18 for a year. I think it's so worth it...so many of their recipes are adaptable to SBD. They also have great articles on living healthy, traveling healthy, and lots of exercise. It's a great mag.

I like the magazine, but not enough to subscribe to it. I think it's funny how so many of their recipes are "light" only because they serve miniscule portions. Sure, that pizza is great for you, if you only eat a 1" square of it!

I'm more of a "Cook's Illustrated" person myself, and have both a print and an online subscription to their web site. Unfortunately, few of their recipes are light, which I guess is why I'm on the South Beach diet to begin with!
