I lost another 5 pounds and I feel good about it. I treated myself to a small (1 scoop) ice cream sundae but it was sort of a special occasion as I was visiting my childhood best friend that I hardly ever see. She is doing low carb and for lunch we had grilled veges and venison burgers, and then we skipped dinner and had the sundeas instead. I didn't feel one bit of guilt, either.
Anyhow, doing Phase 1 this time was pretty easy. I think I will continue to do it 3 or 4 times a year as it seems to help get me back on track (even though I didn't realize that I had gotten off track).
Well, I was on maintaining for about 2 months cause I didn't want to replace my wardrobe again so soon. So now that autumn is coming I figured I'd try to lose some more and going back on Phase 1 seemed to be the best way to do it. I realize now that I was getting a bit careless, too, and probably would have started gaining slowly but surely if I had kept on Phase 3. Phase 1 was sort of a wake up call and got me back in the swing of things again.
Congrats Wendyjo. Please share with us some of the strategies that you use to maintain.
I am really conscious about the maintenance part because I did not plan for it the last time that I lost weight and my weight got out of control for about a year. This time, I really want to be prepared and make sure that I don't fall into the same trap as last time.
Well, this is gonna make some people yell at me, but I maintained by weighing myself pretty much every day. And if the scale started going up then the amount of food I consumed went down. Maintaining IS hard, cause you get to eat some of the good stuff again, and it's hard to find just that right balance. And in my case if I wanted to lose on Phase 2 I really could only add back about 1 starch a day. That made maintaining especially hard cause it didn't take much "extra" food to start tipping the scales in the wrong direction.
Thanks for the advice, Wendyjo. I tend to weigh myself everyday, so become concerned when my weight increases.
I must be like you...when I started to add starch back on phase 2, my weight loss stalls. I lose like crazy on phase 1, but the minute any starch is added, my weight stays the same. I will need to watch very closely when I am ready to embark on the maintenance journey.
Congrat Wendjo, I am on week two of phase 1 for the second time as well. I lost 5 pounds the first week but this week I have not lost anything. Which is a bit discouraging. I was hoping to lose at least 3 more pounds during this week which would put me down 1 pound from when I fell off the wagon. Today I have found very hard. I am really craving sugar. Really a first since I got past the first few days of P1.
