I actually made that switch about 2 months ago
I found my results were more consistent with calorie counting than WW. With the variety in how the points are calculated depending on what you ate, my weight loss fluctuated between a half a pound and just over 2 pounds each week. With the calorie counting, it's settled to a pretty steady 1.5lbs a week (between 1.4 and 1.6)
I'm more careful with what I'm eating, as there's less ways to 'game the system' when it's calories instead of points. If I want popcorn with butter on it, I make sure that the points are available that week and have it instead of worrying that I wont lose anything if i use more weekly points than normal.
WW was great in that it taught me proper portion control, but once I had that down calorie counting gave me more flexibility in my diet.
