Tried these candies today at weigh in. I thought they were awesome! Only one six piece sleeve allowed per week, but when you just really need chocolate candy, this does the trick for me. I'll have one piece a day, or 3 pieces twice a week etc. I bought a whole box and I'm glad to have them.
these sound delish! I weigh in tomorrow AM-i'll have to see if we have them! So how are you counting it toward your daily protein packets? Is one sleeve a serving??
it was my understanding these are an "additional treat" and not a packet?
It just looks to me like IP is making ways to slow down weight loss so they can make more money.
That's what they originally said. Then they changed it and now said it is to replace 1 restricted food per week. If you choose this you can have 6 other restricted packets for the week.
That said, it is hugely caloric with 70% saturated fat for the day and only 10 grams of protein.
I agree. I also don't think it is a good idea to market a new product as a "treat." I'm trying to see food as fuel, not rewards.
Food is not just fuel. If you use it right it does more than that. It's fuel but also oil and wax. So it makes you go, but should make you run (i.e. physically) better, feel better and look better as well. As for raspberry chocolates, that just smacks of BS.
I mean berries are great for you. But chocolate? Please.

I spoke to my coach last week about the new chocolate bar treat and she is annoyed at IP, told the rep that she buys the product from that she would not stock it and that it goes against what IP is supposed to be doing....supporting people with weight loss. Apparently she also emailed this feedback to the head office. I'm guessing this product won't be selling.

Agreed, this is a MAJOR red light food and the way I'm going to handle it is not even tempt myself. I think it's absurd that IP release and endorse a treat like this, it's so evil on so many levels.. Grrr!
I disagree with some. My coach says one individual piece a day will not impede my weight loss and I don't have to count one piece as a daily packet. I think my coach knows what he's talking about. They run a large successful clinic. I lost 55 lbs with them years back. Thankfully I have less to lose this time around.
Of course, if one doesn't have the willpower to stop at one small piece, then this is not for them. I've had small pieces of Atkins peanut butter and chocolate candies, and lost an average of six lbs a week while doing IP. These taste way better.
I for one applaud IP for continually coming out with new products to offer more variety, so I don't feel so restricted while OP. I also believe a company has a right to make money on their products. Anyway, if one does not approve, then one does not have to buy them.
Just posted in the daily thread about this bar because I totally forgot about this thread...
Everyone who works at my clinic isn't a fan of them. I find it interesting in that they only got 10g of protein in it but 15g of fat! There's also 10g of sugar alcohol! I may as well eat a Hershey kiss! Just kidding! I took a nibble at weigh in and wasn't too impressed. Don't think i'll stray from my daily bar BUT it is a good option if you are craving a Hershey bar! I just know that as a restricted, it definitely wouldn't do the job of a bar for me.
I SECOND THE WINE COMMENT! I miss my red wine so much.....
I couldn't agree with you all more about this new bar. I think that it is a way to work in a "cheat" to your week, when in reality, it's not necessary. If I am going to spend this many calories on an IP snack, I'd rather eat something equivalent off plan. My coach and I tried them on Monday and they weren't even that good. No thanks.
P.S. I took a picture of the nutrition facts for anyone interested.
these are something I would freeze and take out once in a while (only one mind you) and suck on it, to let it slowly melt in your mouth that helps kick the craving for chocolate sometimes!
My coach is also not going to carry them. She does not agree with them and was told by IP that they are making them more for phase 4. As she said, if you are on Phase 4 you are not going to pay $4.50 for a package of chocolate.
I tended to agree with all of you until I actually tried the bar. Now I disagree. I think the product has its place.
As a once-a-week restricted item, I think it is fine. It is one thing to "give up" chocolate when you are dieting to lose 30-40-50 pounds. It is another thing altogether when you are dieting to lose 130 pounds, like I did. I was on Phase 1 for a YEAR. I am in Phase 4 now, but wish that I would have had this product earlier.
This product is not as sweet as normal chocolate and for me at least, does not seem to get the sugar "swing" going.
Bottom line for this, as with any product - if it is a trigger for you, don't use it. But don't hate on other people if it is something they find helpful. We all have our own experiences on this journey.
