Dinner last night in CT had somber moments, but it was good for us to be out together.
Half the attendees didn't show up, which did not surprise me. It was a night for parents to keep close by home and watch over their children.
But for me, personally, I felt it was a good thing to be out in a warm, bright place, a very informal red-sauce Italian restaurant, where the TVs overhead just showed cooking shows, and old friends caught up on news.
Thank goodness I talked my rigid self out of declining the invitation. And even though the salmon was overdone and the vegetables were lukewarm, being there seemed important.
