So I am in a study and they take blood tests for sugar/cholesterol, etc, every 6 months. I thought I would share my progress.
When I first got my sugar tested for this study it was 114 (down from 124 before the study), and then they tested me later and it was 99, normal! Then they tested me in january, and it was 95! Even better!
my A1C was 5.3, so right in the middle. good.
My insulin was 2, less than 25 is ideal.
My bad cholesterol was normal, I don't remember the number off hand.
My total cholesterol was 195, it should be under 200. My goal is to keep getting it down. I'm vegan, so a lot of it is genetics. I'm trying to combat that with using less oil and taking fish oil and eating flax.
My triglycerides were 260 at one point in my life (over 150 is bad), and as of my last study appt, my triglycerides were 119!!!!!!!!
My good cholesterol was 6 points lower than it should be, BUT, it was 8 points higher than it was the last time I got it tested, so slowly but surely it's improving.
My thryoid is reading a little low.
Overall I'm really happy with my progress. Also, I'd just like to add that during the last six months I have GAINED almost 40 lbs and yet my blood work is still steadily improving. It's easy to be a fat vegan I Guess. But, I think my vegan diet is responsible for my good blood work, regardless of weight gain. I'm still eating healthy, I was just eating TOO MUCH healthy stuff. calories are calories!!!!!
Back on track! Trying to finish out the study with a nice loss!
