I was such a lazy bum. Dog woke me up at 7 am, I took her out, fed her breakfast, and told myself "just one more hour" and slept til 9:30! (I was asleep by 11:00 last night). I know I'm quite tired so I guess my body needed it, but I've got to get a move on my day. I'm just finishing my coffee now.

My challenge for the day is having dinner with some friends tonight, and while I'm letting it be my indulgent meal of the week I want to absolutely keep my cals under 2000 for the day. I'm trying not to stress out about it since I don't want to let that stress get in my way of having fun w my friends.

Saef, have fun w your friends! How nice of your friend to bring your mirror, and convenient.

Have a good Saturday all!

Yeah bargoo unfortunately 4:30 a.m. is also a time I consider "sleeping in". There is the occasional time on the weekend when I sleep until sometime after 5 a.m. (7 + hours) and I'm a different person!

I'm hoping to break this tooo little sleep/caffeine/too much eating/too little sleep/repeat/repeat/repeat cycle when I retire - 11 more years of this

Dagmar, I am retired and still wake up, ready to get up at this ridiculous hour. I was up at 3:25 AM today. Why, you might ask ? Well.....I would rather get up than lie in bed and try to go back to sleep, which never happens.

My newspaper doesn't generally arrive until 5 AM.

The dog barking suddenly at 2 AM got my attention. Especially since he was situated on our bed at the time. Then you lie awake and wonder what riled him and why is still growling. When he did it a second time, James got up to investigate. Nothing. But I could "hear" something. So of course I had to get up and investigate. What I heard was the ceiling fan in the bathroom, it sometimes gets a click. But in any case, that shot my night's sleep somewhat. I did manage to get back to sleep only to have it interrupted when a cat decided to taste my lip gloss.

Allison, Angie and I get a lot more sleep when the dogs sleep in their crates in the garage. Which they like to do. However, when it is really cold or hot out there I try to get them to sleep in the house, or if one is sick or injured, so I can keep an eye on them. In their crates they never make a sound, not through 4th of July or New Years fireworks...but boy oh boy, do they hear all sounds in the house at night!

Yep, my gal told me once she picks up the papers at 1:30-1:45, if the truck is there...getting me mine before 3:30 every day except her day off, which she rotates with other carriers. I hate those days...it isn't here until 5, which means on a lot of days I am already gone.

Well, last night, I had dinner with my friend and her husband, and out of sheer luck, two other friends who live in this area didn't have much going on and were able to join us. So it was a table of five, and oh, I had such a good time. I really, really needed this.

I've been living in a small airless bubble of anxiety, spending too much time inside this house, either working on my laptop or fretting over my apartment renovation and refurnishing. And all my worrying has been reflected back at me by my mother's deep concern about getting me re-established.

I need to stay in touch with these people and to get the heck out out of this cycle periodically.

DH and I went out for our Thai meal last night. It was a restaurant that had offered a discount via coupon.

I was quite excited. Changed my outfit 3 times, put on some make up, cologne, jewellery, etc. A NIGHT OUT! Without a dog in sight -

The restaurant was downtown and was one at which neither of us had ever eaten. I was happy to be out of the house and not have to cook dinner, despite there being howling winds and freezing rain/blowing flurries on the way there.

The meal was mediocre at its best ("spicy" fish with a pineapple/mango salad) and totally awful at its worst (the "authentic" pad thai). DH eats, no matter what. He didn't like any of what he was eating but he ate until he was stuffed.

I suggested going to a dessert place (at least we would end the evening with something chocolatey) we were passing on the way home but he demurred. So we got home and sat in front of the TV, drinking red wine and eating cheese and crackers. SIGH.

We are going to a musical theatre production next Saturday (for DH's birthday) and I really hope it will be a better evening than last night.

Couldn't be any worse .
