Default Wellbutrin and Lump in Throat

My doctor just upped my dose of Wellbutrin XL from 300 to 450 mg. I've been on the 300 for awhile and hadn't noticed any changes for good or bad. So my new doctor decided to see how the max dose would be. I've been on it for a week now with the increased dose and I've started to get what seems like a lump in the throat. I have difficulty swallowing and it's like something is caught in my throat. It doesn't last all day. It comes and goes. But it's really annoying and sometimes I get panicky and worried that my throat is going to close up. Does anyone know if this is a side effect of Wellbutrin? I've found a few cases of it online but nothing official. I did see something about potential swelling of the throat and maybe that's what this is. So I'm debating on going back to the 300 tomorrow morning and seeing if it goes away.

Any suggestions? Anyone experienced this?

I think you should call your doctor and ask him/her about this.

I sort of feel this with Wellbutrin - on 300 mg vs 150. It's not terrible but sometimes I have difficulty swallowing while eating (apparently I need to have that trouble a little more, LOL).

What did your doctor say?

I had the same feeling when I started taking Wellbutrin too, it was increasing my anxiety level. A week and a few Xanax later, once my body got used to it, it stopped.

I just saw my doctor. She hadn't heard of it before, but we decided to keep me at the level that I"m at and then add on some others.

Default Well......

.......that would not be the answer that I would hope for from my doctor, but I guess you can try it.

I was on an anti-depressant (can't remember which one it was now) that kinda made me feel that way too. Actually I would feel really bloated or something. I had to sit perfectly still for at least an hour after I took it. I had to quit that because it drove me nuts.

Good luck with your meds. It's so hard to find the right combination!
