Default Posture during interviews

Reading an article on maintaining posture while interviews, it is suggested that women should cross their legs. Many of us can't do that due to weight.

Any thoughts/suggestions on what should your posture be while being interviewed?

I'd imagine by "cross your legs" that an article could mean "don't go showing off your underthings".

I'd either cross my legs at the ankle, or sit with my legs together at the knees.

I'd be lounging trying to cross my legs.
I do as Lovely mentioned & just cross at the ankles.
Also allows for me not to shake my legs in nervousness.

I agree. I actually think it is decidedly unprofessional to cross your legs above the knee during an interview. It hikes up your skirt, and it used to be seen as suggestive. Ladies cross at the ankles.

Good thing we don't live in a time when we're judged by how well we act like "ladies."

Haha- I wish that were true. I am in the legal field where technically, the only court-appropriate jewelry is a wedding ring and a pearl necklace, and some women are actually counseled that if you wear a skirt, you should wear your hair up, if you wear slacks, wear your hair down. As much as I'd like to pretend like there's not still a huge divide between how we are judged and how men are judged, I'm afraid it's still there. Also, when you are wearing a skirt, whether you are male or female, crossing your legs at the knees can be a bit of a show for whoever is in front of you.

Proper etiquette dictates you never cross your legs, just your ankles, in any public situation. It is very old fashioned but still gospel =)

I just think of Sharon Stone and laugh.

I don't wear skirts...so I wouldn't have a problem if I crossed my legs and my skirt got hiked up...because I don't wear them! haha

I remember reading an article or something on your posture when interviewing. One of the things listed was to not cross your legs (or arms for that matter) because you appear closed and defensive. Crossing your ankles is the better way to go.

How I would love to be able to cross my legs so that this would be a problem.
