Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I never eat them *alone* - always with nuts or cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. Maybe that tempers the sugar shock a little. Plus it's harder to eat more than 2 that way (unless they are the super teeny-tiny ones).
I always say that it's too bad Vitamin C can't be stored in the body, 'cause I surely get a year's supply during the clementine months
