Thanks Jazz, I will definitely keep that in mind.

Ruth - I don't suppose the route to PA goes through Vermont?

Wish it did, Cyndi. Never mind - it will happen sometime. Maybe I'll drive a bit south to meet Spring on her way up here.

Good morning!

Off to the gym with my mom soon. Niggles today. Hard to believe the week is almost over. Seems like Thanksgiving is sneaking up so quickly!! I've been eating OP but have to admit that I had way to many apples yesterday. Yes, I can even overeat apples! They are so yummy right now. Off to check the weather to see if we got a killing freeze last night...

Have a great Friday, all.

Ruth, it definitely won't be buffet ... most lilkely a sit down 3 course meal ... so yes, tricky!

Lexxiss, yes, I've experienced dinner at their house many times before, and as we've always taken wine in the past, she'd probably think it was a bit strange if I called her on this occasion to ask what was being served. I guess I'm just going to have to hope that there's plenty of veggies or salad to help myself to and be careful with small portions of anything else, so as not to offend. The hardest thing is going to be dessert, not because I don't have the will power to go without, but because she knows me so well and knows that normally I would never, EVER, turn down dessert Oh well, there's a first time for everything!

Hey guys,
Sorry I never came back! We received news that my husband's 98 year old grandmother died this morning. She'd been in the hospital for a couple of days but it still seems sudden because she was so old and had been in and out of the hospital so many times over the last couple of years, with not really serious things that were resolved. She was a real trooper. She was the reason for our Texas visit in May, and I'm so glad that my husband got to see her then and that she got to meet me and our son. Sigh - but a wonderful life to celebrate and thank goodness, she did not really suffer. Still, it's the end of an era for my husband's whole family in a lot of ways. When the matriarch passes, people have a lot of adjustments/growing up to do in some ways.

I need a swift kick in the rear end. My diet has plateaued and I need something to give me a boost and get things moving again. My friend suggested SBD. She said the no carbs thing works every time. Can someone give me the low-down on how this works? I'm a carb addict (which she says will also be helped with SBD). I will buy the book if needed but I want to know a bit about the program first.

If you are considering following SBD but don't know too much about it, I strongly urge you to read the book beforehand. You must learn the fundamentals of this way of eating, and it has a lot of valuable information that you will need to get started. The South Beach Diet is NOT a no carb diet, it's a GOOD carb diet, and that's one of the major misconceptions of this diet plan.
Good luck, and we hope to see you on board!

Matilda, so sorry to hear about DH's grandmother. I didn't realize she was who you visited in Texas, and yes, it is so wonderful that you and your son got to meet her. Take care

Thanks guys. She didn't suffer, and was 98 and led a very good life. I wish it for all of us! I only met her once, but she really touched me.
