What kind of hair products do you use? Styling tools/brands and styling products/brands?
I am looking for a new hair straightener (currently own a Conair). Not sure what brand. I hear Chi is good. Anyone else have one? If not what brand do you have and how do you like it. Someone recommended Chi Silk Infusion. I am always looking for great hair products. I purchased some Rusk priming creme, and Rusk thermal flat iron spray. I am not a fan. I love wearing my hair straight or curly. So recommendations on a curling iron would be great too! Funny how losing weight, makes you more aware of your appearance.
After wasting money on lots of cheaper ones, I now own a Chi and absolutely LOVE it. Also, if you are really plagued with big hair like I am, you may want to consider Keratin treatment at a reputable salon. I absolutely ADORE my Keratin treatment and it lasts about three months.
I have a Chi and I use some of their products too, I use Bed Head as well.
I got my Chi from Amazon for lots cheaper than most places.
I don't use it very often as I have hair down to my butt and I baby it, so heat styling is a no-no unless for something very special. But when I do use it, with the smoothing products, it works wonders.
I use Bed Head's "Dumb Blonde" Conditioner once I wash my hair after using the straightner, it helps with the "Damage control" of the after straightener issues.
The only splurge I have made as far as hair tools go has been my hair straightner it's a Salon Tech 450 it gets hot in seconds and I love it! I also curl my hair with it I get the more loose romantic type curls and I use a regular heat spray protector but I have been meaning to buy the Chi products. Shampoo and conditioner wise I use Bed Head Dumb Blonde and my hair is pretty smooth!
I don't use one but lots of my friends rave about the Chi, so I think you can't go wrong with that.
As for product, I love Redken Guts 10 - it's a spray foam and I find that it holds well but when I touch my hair, it doesn't feel like there is "stuff" in it. I have short hair that I scrunch a bit to shape and curl and it works really well for that. And if I need to fix it during the day, I can just wet my hands and re-scrunch it and it will hold some more.
I like the Chi silk infusion and Moroccan Oil. They're a bit pricey but last me a long time. My hair gets very frizzy and so I like to put it on when it's still wet and then reapply when it's dry. I also have a Chi flat iron that is very good.
I would definitely recommend the Chi Silk Infusion. I got a larger bottle of it on sale 3 years ago and still have about half a bottle left. You don't need to use much of it at all. (That being said, I don't use it every day either.) It leaves your hair so soft and smooth! I have gotten many compliments about my hair, especially when I use that product.
I bought my straightener at the same time and it is still working great until this day, it's a Paul Brown straightener (Hawaii version or something?).
My hair has a really hard time holding curls usually, but I bought the Babyliss Pro Ceramic Curling iron and it is AMAZING!!! My curls last all day which is a nice change!
I have a Chi and a Remington Wet 2 Straight which is suppose to work on wet or dry hair (different settings).
Obviously the wet straightener takes longer but I find they both work well. I've had my Chi for over 10 years and it still works fine. I must add a disclaimer that I only straighten my hair once in a blue moon and it is extremely curly.
As my hair is curly, I do not use shampoos. The main ingredient seriously dries out my hair and makes it super frizzy. I only use Aveda's Rosemary and Mint conditioner. I use small (dime size or less) amounts of Silk Infusion on really humid days and never blow dry.
The products you use should really depend on your hair type. Is your hair super curly, frizzy, or just thick and wavy (etc.)? Is your hair dry or normal? Is it damaged?
I have super curly, frizzy, dry, and damaged hair. I always use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, my favorite is Paul Mitchell Lavender Mint Tea Tree. If you don't have the cash for expensive products, apparently the newer Suave Naturals Moisturizing stuff is pretty good (it actually has the same ingredients as many true professional brands and no bad sulfates). I normally use PM Super Skinny Serum before straightening (but I've also had luck using Bed Head Control Freak and BioSilk--and to go against above posters Chi Silk infusion did not impress me: the serum was okay, the shampoo/conditioner was no good for me).

To add to this, Sally's Beauty Supply also makes versions of expensive name brand products to sell in their store. They just come in black and white bottles. I've found a good size bottle of PM Lavender Mint Tea Tree for $8. I still have it as I thought it was conditioner but was shampoo.
I echo everyone else here, I got a chi back in 2007 and not only has it lasted this long but I got it on amazon for 85 bucks back then. Aweeeeeeeesome.
I have tried the chi infusion product and it worked well but I don't really use any hair products anymore (besides high quality and sulfate free shampoo / conditioner) , but that's just my personal preference.

Ditto - Super curly hair, so I don't use shampoo, but wash with conditioner and rinse with a water/apple cider vinegar mix.
The CHI works on my hair, but I don't straighten much anymore. I just go to the salon to do it maybe once or twice a year, and get it diffused a few more times/yr.
