Hello All, I'm attempting to do MRC on my own. I was a success with MRC about a year and a half ago. I lost 72 pounds in 6 months. However, I didn't make it all the way through stabilization. Life got complicated with a move and family issues. I've gained every pound plus 3 more back...UGG!
I found it to be a very easy program to follow. I want to do it at home because I really didn't buy much of their products last time and toward the end we were getting new counselors that didn't know much and I found myself teaching them. lol. Don't get me wrong, we had a few great ones but I feel I can do it with the support of this group and myself. Is anybody doing it on their own right now? Has anybody been successful doing it on their own?
I thought about losing all my weight and signing up for the last 10 pound just so I can go through stabilization. I have 6 of the stabilization menus. I don't know how many in total we are supposed to have and I don't have the life time menu so I'll need those.
I see very few familiar names on here from when I was doing it. I'd love to get to know all of you and hope I can be a great help as well.

I like the idea of signing up for hte last 10 pounds. I am a re-enroll. I got pregnant 15 lbs. from my goal, and I gained way too much during the pregnancy. I still kept about half of it off, but I just got to a point where I wasnt losing anymore without trying. I chose to sign back up, but that was mainly because I had a few weeks left on my program from last time, and I like the accountability, and I wanted to go through stabilization and the year of maintenance, which was left on my program anyway. If I were in your position, though, I would at least check into it at the ten pound mark. I really want the year of maintenance to help myself stay on track and have some built in accountability. Also, you could always try it on your own first, and if it's not working out so well after a few weeks, look into re-signing.
I'm a returnee too. Quit last time after being seven pounds from goal then had back problems, surgery, and a long physical rehab and gained it all back. I have ten pounds to lose and am signing up tomorrow for the reasons you suggest.
It's easier the second time around since we know the pitfalls and the stalls and plateaus.
I think the hard part for me is keeping the motivation once I get comfortable. I'm hoping for some big inspiration tomorrow.

Wow, you've been through a lot. Sorry to hear that. Keep us posted on how your consultation went.
Gaining all the weight is painful to think about but to me the weight loss months last time went so quickly. I hope it's the same this time. I gave in and called my center and set up a consultation for Friday. I agree with tkdtara84 I need the accountability too!! I tried for a week but sorta failed.
The accountability really helps keep me in check, especially if I know I'm goign to have to WI, and I don't want to be up and have to explain myself to someone. It is expensive, and I don't have a bunch of extra money lying around (who does?), but I really do tihnk it's worth it if it gets the weight off. Also, you control a lot of what you spend. Simply refusing all the extra supplements will save you more than the cost of the program over the long run.

I totally agree!!! I like my food journal to be perfect for them so I really do watch what I eat so that I don't have to write it down.
I spend A LOT more eating out. I like to dine out (not so much fast food) but the sit/tip kind. When I'm doing MRC I eat out only at Subway periodically so in that sense a $100.00 a month on supplements is cheap in comparison. I'm only going to buy the supplements I cook with like the chicken bouillon, tomato basil, vanilla/chocolate puddings, cappuccinos, etc. I'll still use the tasteless any whey protein for my clears. So I'm thinking it's going to be a lot cheaper that way. I didn't buy any of their pills last time nor will I this time. They hardly make anything off me. I just like the interaction.

Best wishes to you. I am doing 17 Day Diet program as i too have money problem. I cook at home. Last week i made turkey meat balls, they were awsome with salads and with sauted veges.
But my success is moderate 1lb per week kind of. If you do not mind can you tell me little bit more about MRF...some tips which i can implement at home?
How do you do that? How much whey powder do you use? Do you mix it with crystal light or something?
There's a Thread by SailorsGirl called HNS alternative. She brought it to my attention. It's called 100% Any Whey Protein, Virtually Tasteless! I love it and yes I mix it with about 4- 6 oz of water and a little sprinkle of crystal light in my shaker bottle (with the ball). I'll use it like I'd use my clears, 2, 3, or 4 times per day. The nutritional value is nearly identical as the clears. I think the sodium is a bit higher but not by much. I paid $32.99 (on bodybuilding.com) for a serving of 60. The grape HNS says it has 2g of sugar in 1 packet and this has 0g of sugar. Here's the break down submitted by SailorsGirl..
Quick look: (per scoop/serving)
70 calories
0 fat
0 Cholesterol
30 mg sodium
1 g Carb
17 g protein (i think thats 2 more than the HNS)
8% DV of Calcium

Hi puneri, Sounds like you're doing awesome. Way to go!!!
Metabolic Research Center is a very good program but with any program it only works if you stick with it. MRC gives you a menu to follow, different ones dependent on how much weight you need to lose. On the menus it has the acceptable proteins, veggies and carbs that you are to eat plus the measurements of how much of each food group we can eat. And lots and lots of protein supplements that we eat with meals and as snacks. MRC guarantees a 3-5 pound loss per week. Hope this answered your question.
Keep up the good work. Your turkey meatballs sounds awesome! Did you get the recipe off this Forum?
Hi Ladies I'm still on a quest for gelatin free HNS. Has anyone tried the designer whey 2go. It is 50 calories 10g protein and 1g of sugar which is stevia? Im wondering if it would be a good substitute.
