But, I have to say, I find hip riding jeans a true godsent. I have been comfortable in pans that cinched me in the waist (by the end of the day I would feel bloated like a hot air balloon, and looking somewhat preggers - I don't why I react this way - basically, this is why I never wear belts either).
I now have a few pairs of jeans that all sit below natural waist and I always marvel at how comfortable they are. Surprisingly, they make me feel slimmer than the jeans that sit higher up. Weird, eh? I never thought that at the age of 52 I will be running around in jeans sitting way below my navel and loving it!

How I wish I could wear such pants, but that's where I absolutely cannot. I have too much gut/padding there. I have (and always have had) a roundish gut, so something that cuts across it makes it feel awkward and look horrible.

One of the things I really liked about my transiition period of buying my clothes at Goodwill was that they were pre-screened. The badly made clothes didn't hold up long enough to get donated and the styles that most of us wouldn't wear didn't get purchased in the first place to be donated later!

That is not my experience at my local goodwill or any goodwill I've been in. Most of the clothes there are Target and Wal-mart clothes and I do not consider them good quality or great at lasting. Most things at goodwill are really dated too. Now, don't get me wrong, i've found some great things there, but 6 pieces out of thousands I had to sort through was almost not worth the effort. Especially since they aren't sorted by sizes. It was actually easier when I was plus sized as that was only one rack for pants and one for shirts. Now it's 3-4 for pants and 5-6 for shirts and skirts. Trying to find the elusive 12 in the 2,4,6,8 and 10s is HARD and so I'm going there less and less. Finding things on clearance elsewhere isn't much more money, is better quality and current styles.
