Hey all! Welcome new comers! I have recently traded a LOT of my internet time in for good old fashioned exercise. I'm finding checkin gthis once or twice a day rather than hitting refresh because i'm board has a much better effect on my ticker

I'm still here though

I just got off the elliptical and feel great. For lunch, I had a spinach salad with canned salmon. Then had a frozen banana for dessert. Yum!

Amber, cute baby!! How old?

This is day 2 of my low carb eating plan. Had a pork chop and veggies for dinner. Will have an egg substitute omlette and a banana for breakfast in a few minutes. Will exercise later on.

How's everyone else?

Hello guys! I want to join in. I started SBD about a month ago and I haven't lost much, about 6lbs.

I try to stay away from carbs all together (at least white ones) but I try to enough healthy ones like cauliflower, bananas, corn, etc. I haven't had a slice of bread in over a month? Do you know what an accomplishment this is for me?? I use to go grab a slice of bread as a snack, lol.

Morgan, Wow, 6 lbs. lost is great! Congrats to you! Keep up the great work!!
And not eating bread for a month is a major accomplishment. (It's only been a few days for me.)

This plan is actually making me feel better, like I'm back in control. And the good part is that I'm not having any cravings like I did when I ate foods with flour.

You know, I thought not eating bread was going to be crazy hard but after I got past the first 2 weeks of SBD its been super easy. I use to eat a sandwich for lunch everyday and a biscuit/roll/etc with dinner but I have broken both habits. I now eat a salad everyday for lunch and I eat an extra portion of veggies with dinner.

I definately agree about feeling in control. Starting SBD (or any diet plan, I would think) has given me that feeling back. I didn't feel in control since I got pregnant with my son and eating right combined with exercise is something, I know, I can absolutely control and it makes me proud/feel good when I am doing the best I can.

ive lost most of mine doing Lowcarb/IF (started IF about a month in after finding this forum) & it works a treat for me. I do 1 or 2 IF days(20-24hours) a week, the rest is either lowlcal/low carb or a mini fast (12 hours).

What i really like, is that im happy eating this way, suits me my appetite & lifestyle & i can see how i can tweak into maintenance easily!

Wow, everyone is doing great! This helps me keep motivated, too. This morning I had my egg substitute omlette with spinach and dried tomatoes. It was great! Then I had my yogurt. I'm actually satisfied.

I've been reading that eating less carbs also keeps your mind in balance. This plan is good for people with depression, arthritis, diabetes and a myriad of other medical issues. Looks like we're on the right track!!

MISHFLYNN, that's great that you can fast like that! Kudos to you!! Still haven't tried that one. It looks a little scary to me.LOL So for now I'll stick to low carbing it. (I've only been at this 3 days now.) Tell us what do you do at the dog shows? Are you a dog handler, a judge, or other? What kind of dog do you have? I love dogs!

@ Ghost: I only get heartburn because of my baby and usually I find it's because I'm lying in a wrong postion, sitting up and taking a few deep breaths helps ease my discomfort other than that, I've never ever experienced heartburn due to late night eating.

- - -

Things have been a bit hectic on my end, my boyfriend is concerned I'm not eating enough... (of course if he had something living and growing inside of him, i'm certain he'd feel pretty full all the time...) So another compromise, my weekend-fasts are broken around midday instead of the usual time and I am to eat anything my heart desires (ie: He wants me eating carbs) So weekends are now considered an 'anything-and-everything' weekend.

I'm not particularly happy about it, yet I get to eat how I want during the week, so a compromise is a compromise...

Hi Guys! I was just reading through this thread and was wondering how many hours per day are you supposed to fast? Is there another link with the "how to's" of IF? I am not a big breakfast eater (other than my coffee) and would like to give this a try. Thanks.

@ Saggzz: Hiya and welcome!

When I first started with Intermittent Fasting, I was following a 'fast-5' lifestyle... In which you fast untill your eating window, (any time in which suits you) mine was from 3pm - 8pm and then you fast untill 3pm the very next day.

Once my body adjusted to my new eating regime, My eating window gradually lessened to either 1 or 3 hours... But nowadays, I only eat when I'm truly, honestly hungry...

There are many methods of Intermittent Fasting, I suggest using Google to find what best suits you and keep us chickee's updated with your progress!

Hi Saggzz,

In the support section of the messages is a thread on IF if you read through you can get some great answers.

I would post a link, but I don't know how.

Default Stuck at 155 with IFing and Low Carb/Paleo

I've been doing IFing and paleo for at least 6 months now. I have the occassional cheat day, like once every two weeks, but no flour and rarely simple carbs. On cheat days, I might eat a corn tortilla or beans. Anyway, I started at 220lbs at 5'6 and am now 155. With my fasting, I fast 4-5 days a week with an eating window of say 4-8. I eat about 800 fasting and 1200-1500 non fasting.

I don't exercise and I know there are benefits, but I also know that calorie restriction will shed the pounds. But I am stuck. My BMI is still "overweight" at 25 and my weight range is like 115 to 154 (missed it by a pound! lol). I am small framed using 2 different measuring techniques, so I should be at the lower end of the range. I am super tiny at 135 though...like I wear a 3 at 5'6 when I weigh 135.

Anyway, I'm stuck at 155. With fasting and paleo/low carb will I overcome this plateau in time or do I have to add exercise?

Fat loss is an equation of energy. Energy is measured in calories.

If you're in a decifit your weight will go down, exercise or no. Based on your diet I'm guessing you're in a deficit still.

Exercise is a very good idea for health reasons. You don't have to do much. 20 minutes of elevated heart rate 3x a week is sufficient to give you much of the cardiovascular benefit which can be accomplshed through brisk walking.

If you haven't been at the same weight for 8 weeks then what you need is patience. The scale only measures weight, not fat. If 8 weeks have gone by and you're stuck then you need to reevaluate.
